From Max Wieldruk to Jose Randy |
Dear Jose, dear friend, Thank you ever so much. I talked about your wife's situation with Bert Weeter, a friend of mine who is a doctor and he suggested she might try what we call a 'Beerenburg-kuur'. Beerenburg is a very special medicine made from herbs which, we think, is typical of our country, it has been known to work miracles. (Of course I never mentioned the project we have on hand to him, we are supposed to keep this secret) I also had a confidential second talk with my friend Cas te Kort, the manager of the Verdronken Bank van Saaftinge, our local bank. He said it would be safe for me to receive the amount in a special dollar account he opened for me. I enclose the letter of application as a PDF-file, I hope that is all right with you. Mr Cas te Kort pointed out to me that receiving such large amounts here in Saaftinge comes under scrupulous investigation of the "Ministerie van Ecomonische Zaken". This Ministry wants to make sure that any money transfer to and from Saaftinge conforms to the Rules of Revolutionary Banking of our country. This was stipulated by the law F.L.A.U.W.E.-kul of 19 April 1998. In short, you have to fill in a form, number 308 BT. Mr Te Kort was so kind as to prepare the form for me as a PDF-file, which I enclose with this mail. All you have to do is the following: 1. Print out this file, 2. Fill in the blanks and sign, 3. Have the form duly signed and sealed by your bank, 4. Scan the form and return it to me; I will make sure that Cas te Kort gets the form and he will see that it is 'overseen' by the Ministry, if you grasp what I mean. This will have to take place within the next three days!!!! So please hurry. Usually these forms are duly controlled by the Ministry. But as this has to remain a secret, Cas te Kort thinks he can bribe the Ministry into letting this form pass without the officials taking a too close look, if you see what I mean. However, for handling this document and the bribes I will have to pay ROS 3.489 (Rottumer Schelling, our local currency). This is approx 250 Euros, which is the currency used by our Netherlands neighbours. We have no need of Euros here, we are proud to have our own coins. Do you think this amount can be paid out of the 5% we have set apart for any expenditures? I have been thinking it over. Our national clog factory, KUTMETPEREN VEB, is seriously wishing to open an second plant in the province of Griend. This might be a great opportunity for investment. This second clog factory will probably need a financial manager. You give the impression of being well versed in financial matters. In my position at the Ministry of the Interior I might be able to get you a good position in the clog industry in our country, if you are interested. However, it can be cold here in winter. Do you think you are up to it, going about packed in a warm greatcoat, with straw in your clogs in a flying snowstorm such as we had here today? In one of my next mails I must send you some pictures of Saaftinge and Rottumerplaat. It's a beautiful country and I'm sure you will like it. In the meantime, give my kind regards to your wife and wish her all the best on behalf of me and my wife. I had to tell Lies about this project of course, and she promised not to tell anyone. Yours, ===== Dr. Max Wieldruk 1012 AA Saaftinge, Rottumerplaat |
