From Jan Dorie (police) to Jose Randy and George Kofi (IBA bank)

Dear Mr Jose Randy and dear Dr George Koffi,

I know this mail will come to you as surprise as we have not had contact before. My name is Jan Dorie, and I am the head of the revolutionary police force in Saaftinge, Rottumerplaat. At the moment Dr. Max Wieldruk and Mr. Cas te Kort, Ph.D, are held in police custody with regard to the investigation into the tragic death of Mr. Onno Verwonnen.

During the investigation it was found that both men have, over the last few weeks, been in very frequent e-mail contact with both of you. As the secret police had already noticed unusual ongoing, both men were already under close police scrutiny during the last few weeks.

Both men are now not only suspected of being guilty of the death of Mr. Onno Verwonnen, but also of counter-revolutionary activities. It seemed that Mr. Jose Randy of Lome, Togo, offered Dr. Max Wieldruk several million dollars, if only Dr. Wieldruk were to pose as the cousin of a dead bank customer of the IBA-bank in Lome, Togo. Mr. Wieldruk would receive the capital of this Engr Mohd Levy Shimony Salahelddin into his bank account, for which he was to receive 20% of the total amount of 16.8 million USD as a reward.

Unfortunately, Mr. Wieldruk, irrespective of the high position he had in our country, could not resist this offer and took all kinds of steps to lay his hands on this large amount of money. In these activities he was aided and abetted by his friend, banker Cas te Kort.

To receive these millions, an amount of 300 USD had to be paid to a committee of the IBA-bank, through Western Union, which has no offices in Rottumerplaat. Mr Te Kort's employee, Mr Verwonnen, was sent all the way to Denmark to effect payment. As a result of their greed, Mr. Onno Verwonnen met his death in a snowstorm. I believe you were informed about this by Dr. Max Wieldruk.

As you will understand, not only Mr. Verwonnen's death is a serious charge, but it is most likely that both men are guilty of counter-revolutionary activities. After all, amassing such wealth is completely against the rules and laws of our country. As you are probably aware, Rottumerplaat is an autarkic autonomous socialist republic, which was declared independent from the Netherlands in 1962,when the revolution of Rottumerplaat was won by our great leader, president Toon Ladder. Out law excludes any capitalist activities. I would gladly receive your confirmation that the situation as described above is essentially correct. I may be reached through e-mail or by telephone, 0031 xx xxx xxxx

I would like to add that I also found the exchange of e-mails between both men between them. It may be of interest to you to note that Dr. Wieldruk had no intention of paying the 75% of the main sum back to Mr. Jose Randy, once it would have been received here. Instead, Mr Wieldruk and Mr Te Kort made a deal to split the money between them and, with the spoil, move out of Rottumerplaat to our neighbouring country Engelschmanplaat.

Both gentlemen will appear in court next monday. It is probably safe to predict that they will face a sentence of at least 10 years' hard labour in the salt mines of Rottumeroog, and all their possessions will be confiscated.

I trust to have served you with this information and remain,

Jan Dorie

I thought I would not hear from them again, having broken up their original story with this mail. But the best part was yet to come...
