"The Player" Ace Spade w/Doris

versus

"Troy Boy" Troy Knight w/The Bobster

Singles Match

Referee: Grant August

JP: We may have a small show tonight, Sully, but this match here sure is gonna explode.

Sully: Troy Knight and Ace Spade have been fighting over Doris, apparently.

JP: But "The Player" is the man doing all the fighting. Troy has kept his cool, mostly.

Sully: Still, there'll be a lot of aggression let out here tonight.

JP: Agreed.

[The crowd respond to "Idioteque" by Radiohead with a huge collection of jeers. Ace Spade, followed reluctantly by Doris, strides down the entrance ramp. His face is a wash of emotion, from hatred to sorrow. He reaches the ring and leaps onto the apron.]

Peter Santos: Weighing in at 230 pounds, accompanied by his wife Doris, "The Player" Ace Spade!

[The jeers only increase as Spade is announced. Doris makes her way round the outside of the ring as The Player enters. He jumps down firmly on the canvas and tests the ropes. With his hands clasped together, he awaits his enemy.]

Sully: Look into Ace Spade's eyes. He can hardly wait to get his hands on that scum!

JP: Troy Knight is not scum!

Sully: He's a sinner!

JP: Hmm. We shall see.

[The PA system falls dead as Troy Knight slips through the curtain with young Bobby by his side. The Bobster holds a microphone, which he passes to Troy. Ace frowns and turns to Doris on the outside, who finds her husband a microphone and slides it into the ring. The Player lifts the microphone and turns back to TroyBoy. The crowd gather their cheers and listen.]

Troy Knight: Ace Spade… the past two weeks has been a collection of misunderstandings.

[Ace continues to frown, puzzled by Troy's words.]

Troy Knight: Let me explain. The letter you found, addressed to a "SWEETY. In the letter, Doris wondered why the little letter's receiver didn't have a girlfriend, and went on to say that "your kind don't like girls. Sounds like me, doesn't it, Ace?

[Ace's stiff-with-anger neck nods as he grasps the microphone in the centre of the ring.]

Troy Knight: Doris went on to write how the letter's receiver had questionable sexually and that YOU, Ace Spade, YOU, are not a fan of the receiver's "type.

[Bobby giggles to himself as Troy struts across the entrance way.]

Troy Knight: Still sounds like me, doesn't it, Ace? Well think about your accusations, Ace! Who in this world doesn't have a girlfriend… has questionable sexually and isn't liked by Ace Spade.

[Ace stands motionless and emotionless on the canvas. His heart thumps beat after beat.]

Troy Knight: And what does your wife Doris love in this world more than she loves you…… CHILDREN!

[Ace turns to Doris, his face drowned in confusion as he looks back to Troy Knight.]

Troy Knight: Ace Spade, your wife hasn't been visiting my dressing room to see me. She's been visiting my son. The Bobster!

[The crowd gasp in unison as Bobby nods to the crowd and folds his arms. Doris looks beyond Ace to the ramp, not sure whether to be relieved that Ace knows the truth or not. Ace manages to lift the microphone to his chin.]

Ace Spade: YOU LIE!

Troy Knight: I assure you, Ace, I do not.

[Ace leaps from the ring, dropping his microphone in the process. Troy speaks fast as Ace approaches, fists clenched.]

Troy Knight: Think about it, Ace! Your arrival at the MWF. Who did Doris spot on a billboard. Troy Knight and BOBBY! She even confessed that my son was adorable! Last week at Dynamite who answered the door to my dressing room? BOBBY! You've been blind, Ace. Blind and insecure.

[Ace arrives at the top of the ramp, just feet of air separating himself and TroyBoy. Bobby steps forward to Ace and puts out his hand, signalling for Ace to stay back.]

Sully: This is too much!

JP: All along its been innocent. Can Ace accept the humiliation??

[In a fury, Ace pushes passed Bobby, knocking him from the ramp to the crowd. Ace fists Troy in the jaw, knocking him to the steel ramp. Doris runs up the ramp and helps Bobby from the crowd. The Bobster cries as Doris holds his wounded leg. Ace turns to Doris and drags her away from the youngster.]

JP: Have some compassion!

[Ace takes the microphone from Troy's side.]

Ace Spade: I have been HUMILIATED! This match WILL NOT happen tonight! In two weeks time, Troy Knight, you shall face me, in a stipulated match of… of… Doris' choosing! Next week on Dynamite, Doris will make her decisions. Will she stay with Ace Spade… and what brutal match will she pick for her men to fight in!

[Ace and Doris disappear through the curtain. Bobby sits by his dad's side, whimpering. The crowd are silent.]

JP: Ace Spade just can't accept that Troy Knight is innocent of all accusations!

Sully: I have to admit, Ace is in denial.
