About Me
So you want to know more about me? Here it
goes....
This world became my home on 29th March 1985. My birthplace is Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh... and proud to be a Bhopali. I
did my early schooling from Sheel Niketan School, Bhopal. That was where I
studied from Nursery to 1st. After that I went to Jawaharlal Nehru School, Bhopal, and was there till my 12th Standard. That was the place where I had the time of my life, the place which gave me great teachers and best friends. I really miss those days. Hope they could come back...
Then, after giving JEE I landed up here... IIT Bombay.
This place rocks! I'm really enjoying my stay over here. Ofcourse it does have
state-of-the-art facilities, but that's not just it. Lots I could find in
myself, never explored before. This place got me into music, I never thought I'd
ever cherish Western music, and now I'm an avid fan!
My Interests
- Astronomy: That has been my childhood
interest. Who doesn't gets amazed looking at a star-studded sky on a dark
night... it always fascinated me. I own a telescope, and I do pursue astro as
a serious hobby. I remember getting some of my friends too into it, and having
night-outs on dark nights, a telescope, a torch, and an FM radio (believe me,
music goes well with astronomy).
- Music: I love music.... and I get lost
when I listen to my favourite songs. My friends say they study with music. I
tried hard, but could never manage to. I always got into the depths of songs,
and cornered studies. In Indian music I like compositions of R.D. Burman, A.R.
Rehman and Shankar Ehsaan Loy. My favourite singers are Shaan (Tanha Dil is an
all-time favourite), Kishore Kumar, Sonu Nigam and Adnan Sami, and in female
voices, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Falguni Pathak.
After coming to IITB I've started cherishing
western music too. Rock appealed to me the most, though I also like country
stuff, the likes of John Denver. Haven't listened to western music
extensively, but still listing some of my favourite bands here:
- Nirvana (its sacred)
- Deep Purple
- Dire Straits (wanna play Sultans of Swing guitar some day)
- Led Zeppelin (Oooh it makes me wonder..)
- Guns and Roses
- RHCP
- Metallica
- RATM (cool band!)
- Guitar: I had never touched a guitar
before coming to IITB, and here I got so deeply involved with it, that time
flies by when I'm with my guitar. I've been learning by myself, and am good at
rhythm playing. I'm now putting a fight with leads... current tasks are
Stairway to Heaven and Sultans of Swing. I with my friends Sumit (Rhythm),
Sridhar (Bass), Vikas (Drums) and Vibhu (vocals) are playing as a band, and we
have been getting along decently well.
- TP: Yes, thats what my friend Shraddha
calls for timepass. And if I'm not sleeping or doing anything of the above,
that's the only thing I do. It includes everything.... be it sitting in hostel
and having cack sessions, or friends getting together and pulling each other's
legs, or talking on phone for hours, or sending sms throughout the day, or
yahoo instant messaging. All this forms the major part of my day. My friend
Sridhar calls me a "jobless fellow", Dosi says "saale life mein kuch kaam
nahin hai kya?", and Shraddha just says, "Don't do TP!"
