To support our continuing efforts to improve this software, we ask you to complete User Registration. Please note that it is not necessary to register before downloading.

2) Download MIDPLUG

Feel free to download the current version of MIDPLUG for XG. Please register before downloading, and read the license agreement and system requirements. Note that currently available versions will never expire, although the SoftSynthesizers (S-YG20 and S-YXG50) will expire 90 days after installation.

Choose a MIDPLUG for the operating system you are using, after reading this frequently updated Important Notice which contains information about problems and procedures for downloading and using the MIDPLUG.

Note: If you have trouble downloading the MIDPLUG file because of its size, don't forget that in some cases you can donwload the SoftSynthesizer section seperately (so you can effectively download the software in two smaller pieces).

3) Putting MIDI on Your Own Home Pages

Music and sound effects on your home page! For those who want to create a MIDI-enabled home page, here's how to set up and register your server.

4) Download S-YG20 or S-YXG50 SoftSynthesizer for PC (latest beta versions)

Download the latest versions of the S-YG20 or S-YXG50 MIDI drivers and players for Windows. The S-YG20 and S-YXG50 provide software synthesizer functionality, so the user can enjoy a wide variety of applications such as game background music or musical playback of multimedia software without having to be concerned with tone generator settings etc. Also, since a MIDI file playback application program and sample songs are included, high-quality music can be enjoyed immediately on the user's PC.

5) Download MIDXTRA Plug-in for Director 5.0 (latest beta version)

Download the latest beta version of MIDXTRA, Yamaha's MIDI plug-in for Macromedia's Director.

MIDXTRA provides a full set of MIDI controls for use in Director 5.0 or higher.

Note: Even if you obtained MIDPLUG on a supplemental disk included with a magazine, or from a source other than the Yamaha home page, we suggest that you Register as a User so that we can inform you of updates, etc.
