To Believe or Not to Believe...That is OUR Right

People want the beliefs of the church taught in public schools. What are the churches for? What is Sunday School for? Are these people not sending their children to these places? Do these places not teach it correctly? Or are the parents so lazy they can't get their children to these places to learn as often as they think they should?

Is it not the right of EVERYONE to believe what they wish and not have others' beliefs tossed down their throats?

RELIGION does not belong in a science class. It is based on personal beliefs and what was written by MEN long ago in a book they called a Bible. It was NOT written by God. It was written by HUMANS. It is what HUMANS believed, as with the Old Testament and the New Testament. Another word for religion might be lore, stories passed down through generations. Or perhaps Mythology. That is the name given to OTHER societies' beliefs. GREEK mythology is nothing less than a set of beliefs shared by the Greek. Same with any other MYTHOLOGY. There is no way to PROVE the existence of GOD. There is no way to prove that all these things in the bible really happened. There is no way to prove it wasn't concocted by someone on drugs. There is no way to prove it wasn't part of someone's 'pipe dream'.

There is, however, ways to prove it was coincidental that the world is the way it is. There are ways to show exactly how things took place. A tornado is not an act of God. It is "a violent destructive whirling wind accompanied by a funnel-shaped cloud that progresses in a narrow path over the land" according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. There is cause and effect in every phenomenon that occurs on this planet. It didn't 'just happen'. A hand didn't come out of the heavens, lifting up a fistful of water to dump over India, killing so many people. And if it was God's hand, I certainly wouldn't want to worship someone so cold of heart. What a temper He must have! I've seen children throw tantrums on their own level. How childish!

Maybe if you force my children to listen to how some made-up person created the world and everything in or around it, I should make YOUR children learn how God does not exist. That is MY belief. How would that do for ya?

I have no problem letting you and yours live according to YOUR beliefs, but let ME and my children live according to OURS.
