02/05/02:
Today was my six month check up. It was a week late because of the three days of ice storms we had last week. The doctors office (along with us) had no power for several days.
Anyways, I have gained a total of seven pounds. The doctor said not to worry about the baby not getting enough food or not gaining weight. She will get what she needs.
My blood pressure is great. Something I'm still not used to is not having a UTI. With Nate, that is all I had. I've had one maybe two so far. I hope that is all I get because they are not fun to have.
The doctor said that the ultrasound looked good. He said that the date from the ultrasound won't be used. We are going to keep May 14 as the due date. So I made sure that a week is the most over he will let me go and he said yes. That is a relief as I was so scared that the baby would be born on Nate's birthday.
Jenavieve's heart rate was 152 beats per minute. I also measured 29 weeks. I had to laugh because at the last appointment, I measured a week less than I was. I guess she went through a big growth spurt. There goes my theory that she will be small.
We also talked about the size of Jenavieve at birth. The doctor asked how big Nate was at birth. I said seven pounds 11 ounces. He said then we can guess that Jenavieve will be eight pounds or more.
I also asked about having a quick labor again. With Nathaniel, it was about 4 hours of hard labor and an hour of that was pushing. The doctor said that the second time is usually quicker. So, fingers crossed, I will have a short and easy labor again.
I went and did the gross sugar testing. That orange drink is so nasty. The best way to describe is like a flat orange pop with added sugar. I also had blood drawn so I can get my RH shot tomorrow.
I go back in four weeks. So look back in four weeks to see how things are going.

I fell the other day down the steps at the court house. I landed on my back and didn't go to get things checked out. My back hurt but everything else seemed fine.
The next day, we went to see the Monster truck show and I think I got bad food. Or I had a very short lived case of tummy flue. What ever it was, I was up at 4 a.m. this morning sicker than a dog.
I called the doctor this morning to tell them about the fall. They sent me to the hospital for a non-stress test. No contractions and Eve was very active trying to kick the monitors off my belly.
The also checked to see if I have a UTI and did a pelvic. Luckily the pelvic showed I wasn't dialated nor could the nurse feel the head of the baby. So I was allowed to go home and waited on the results of the UTI.
I have been dealing with major pelvic pain. It feels like someone pulled my legs apart and kicked me. It mostly hurts when I lay down or sit down on something soft. So I have started doing pelvic rocks. This helps but doesn't last long.
I have been busy reading the Bradley Natural Birthing book. We tried doing the relaxation exercises but Jims laughing doesn't help. When we switched positions, I couldn't stop laughing. So we shall see how the breathing and relaxation will help me have a pain medication free birth.
The other exciting thing to meantion is how Jenaviece reactions to Nathaniel's voice. When ever she hears his voice, she goes wild. She kicks and moves all around. So he has started talking to my belly a lot more and she seems to enjoy it. If anyone wants to feel her kick, we just call Nate over to get her going.
Oh yes I almost forgot. I have been in the shopping mode for Jenavieve. She now have 8 outfits, a travel combo (car seat and stroller), her sling and a bonnet. I'm starting to feel like the pressure to have items for her is slowly coming off my shoulders.
Andrea is planning on throwing me a shower. But with Susie's wedding in April, she wanted to wait until after the baby is born. If we do that, then I will have bought all the items I need. So I am hoping she changes her mind and the shower happens before the birth.
