Tom and I drove to Modesto today in our quest for Mayobanex sightings, but to no avail. He's in extended spring training in Arizona. But we did witness a strange occurrence in the Modesto Nuts' game against the Visalia Oaks: an eight-man lineup. For some reason, only eight Nuts batted the first time through the batting order, although the ninth hitter showed up the rest of the game. When we razzed Nuts manager Jerry Weinstein about it, he was good-natured and joked with us. Still not sure what happened, but it might have been a weird mistake.
