Architecture Information
It
was originally covered with green-glazed tiles.
During the reign of Jia Jing in the Ming Dynasty, the green tiles of the
hall were replaced by yellow tiles (Yu 325).
Detail
The Hall of Literary Glory was originally the study room
of the crowned prince. However, the
Chinese emperor Jia Jing in the Ming Dynasty changed this hall to his study room
of classics. Green represents
nobles and officials, so the Hall of Literary Glory was originally used green
tiled roof (Dorn 8). Since yellow
is the imperial color, the roof of the Hall of Literary Glory was changed to
yellow tiles after Chinese emperor Jia Jing changed the room to his use (Dorn
8).
