Booth in, Rebrov out?

Spurs yesterday signed Andy Booth on loan - then poured scorn on reports they are set to lose Sergei Rebrov to AC Milan. George Graham views 27-year-old striker Booth, who is out of contract at Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the season, as the man who could help fire them into a European place. But the move further intensified speculation that Rebrov could be tempted abroad by the chance to link up with his former strike partner Andrei Shevchenko.

Rebrov's agent has admitted a big-money offer from the European giants would be difficult to resist. Shevchenko has also revealed he is keen to rekindle their partnership in Serie A. But Spurs director of football David Pleat said: "Sergei Rebrov is a Tottenham player. Shevchenko must be saying that he wants to come to England and play for Spurs." Rebrov's agent, Sandor Vargas, said: "If Milan came in it would be hard to turn them down.''
