Fusient’s pattern of doing business involves acquiring struggling or damaged companies, rehabilitating them, and then selling them off, often within a year. There are recent strong indications that Fusient’s plan for WCW would be exactly that; put Bischoff in charge of fixing it and making it more attractive to an East Coast well-known buyer whom they believe will be ready to purchase WCW in about a year (not the WWF).
The booking crew since Johnny Ace was given creative control by Eric Bischoff has changed dramatically. Jimmy Hart has been added to booking meetings, while Bill Banks, Disco Inferno, and Jeremy Borash are out. Ed Ferrara, and Terry Taylor are part of the Tuesday booking meetings with Bischoff, Ace, and Hart, but have drastically diminished input and influence on storylines. The writing staff does more detail work on Wednesday without Bischoff present.
Roddy Piper worked a CWO indy show in Denver, Colo. recently. Piper didn’t wrestle, but instead cut an in-ring promo that lasted more than ten minutes. During the promo, Piper took a few shots at Vince Russo.
Some people believe Johnny Swinger’s friendship with Edge and Christian may actually be working against him. The word is that the WWF is leery of hiring him because they don’t want to give the impression that they hire wrestlers based on who they know.
Sources believe that most of the rumored roster cuts will take place after WrestleMania. They also say that the majority of those released will be developmental trainees, but predict that a handful of WWF wrestlers will also be let go.
