How can you make your vacation photos more exciting? The answer is to use photo editing software. I like to use Adobe Photoshop (very expensive) and JASC Paint Shop Pro (very reasonable).
 
Below you will find five rows of photos I used JASC Paint Shop Pro on. Each row contains an original photo, a color corrected photo and then the final cropped photo. The purpose of this exercise is give a side-to-side comparison of the steps I used to get to the photo I want printed.
 
Photos were taken May 2004 using Fuji Film 3800 digital camera. At each location I shot 60+ photos. Most of the photos came out well. However, I did note distortion in some photos due to lense quality. I have been relucent to spend a large chunk of money on a so-so digital camera. Recently Canon and Nikon introduced some products that have piqued my interest. Unfortuately, the price tags are a little higher than I would like to see.
