Creation of the heavens and earth --Genesis 1

Day 1	heaven and earth light time (evening, morning)	Þ In the beginning Elohim created the heaven and the earth. –Gen. 1:1 Þ "Let there be light." –Gen 1:3
Day 2	division of the upper and lower waters	Þ "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." –Gen. 1:6
Day 3	dry land seed bearing grass, herbs, and trees	Þ "Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear." —Gen. 1:9 Þ "Let the earth put forth grass, herb yielding seed, and fruit-tree bearing fruit after its kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth." —Gen. 1:11
Day 4	sun, moon, and stars	Þ "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth." —Gen. 1:14-15

Creation of Man --Genesis 2

• earth watered by mist rising from the ground
• Gd formed Man from the dust of the ground
• Gd placed Man in Eden and gave him every tree to eat except Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil
• Rivers from Eden: Pishon, Gihon, Hidekel, Euphrates
• Adam named the animals.
• Gd formed woman
• They were naked.

• The serpent tempted Chava.
• She ate the fruit and gave to Adam.
• They hid from Gd.
• Each blamed the other. Gd only asked them; not to the serpent.
• Serpent’s curse: more cursed than any animal; crawl on its belly and eat dust; enmity between him and the woman
• Woman’s curse: pain of childbirth; longing for husband, who will rule over her
• Man’s curse: earth cursed; work hard to bring forth bread; return to dust.
• Gd made them clothing of skins
• They were cast from the Garden; cherub stationed as guard at the gate.

• Births of Kayin and Hevel
• Kayin a farmer; Hevel a shepherd
• Offerings: Kayin’s- vegetables; Hevel’s- firstling lambs.
• Kayin’s offering rejected, while Hevel’s accepted.
• Gd tells Kayin he can repent.
• Murder of Hevel.
• Gd judges Kayin—to wander friendless on the earth.
• Kayin repents. Gd allows him to settle in a place
• Gd marks Kayin to keep anyone from killing him.
• Kayin marries and settles in Nod.
• Kayin’s son Hanokh, builder of a city.
• Generations:

• Lamekh’s wives: Adah and Zillah
• Adah’s son Yabal father of breeders of cattle; his brother, Yubal, father of musicians of lyre and flute.
• Zillah’s son, Tubal-Kayin, sharpened instruments of copper and iron
• Tubal-Kayin’s sister was Naamah.
• Lamekh kills Kayin and the son of Zillah, Tubal-Kayin.
• Birth of Seth
• Enosh ben Seth’s generation "proclaiming in the name of Gd"
