Yaakov's dream --Genesis 28:10-21
Yaakov left his parents and headed for Charan, where his mother, Rivka had family.
He spent the night on Mount Moriah, where he dreamt of a ladder to heaven, with angels ascending and descending.
Gd spoke to him, promising to give the Land on which he was lying to him and his offspring. He further promised that his children would be like the dust of the earth and that through him, his children and all families of the earth would be blessed.
The next morning Yaakov anointed the stone as a monument and vowed: "If Gd will be with me, if He will protect me on the path that I am taking, if He gives me bread to eat and clothing to wear, if I return in peace to my father's house, and if Gd will be my Lrd, this stone which I have erected as a monument will become Gd's Temple. Of all that You give me, I will set aside a tithe to You."
Yaakov's marriage --Genesis 29:1-30
Yaakov arrived in Charan, where he rolled the stone from the well to help Rachel water the sheep. Having been told that she was the daughter of his uncle, Lavan, he kissed her and told her he was Rivka's son.
Lavan asked Yaakov to work for him; Yaakov agreed to work for him for seven years in exchange for Rachel's hand in marriage.
The day came for the marriage, and Lavan substituted Leah for Rachel. When Yaakov discovered it, Lavan told him that the older must marry before the younger. He tells Yaakov that he will give him Rachel for another seven years of labor, but he'll let him marry her as soon as the wedding week for Leah is complete.
Lavan gave Leah Zilpah for a handmaid and Rachel Bilhah for a handmaid.
Birth of the tribes --Genesis 29:31-30:24
Gd saw that Leah was unloved, so she conceived and gave birth to a son, Reuven, saying: "Gd has seen my humiliation. Now my husband will love me."
Rachel was barren.
Leah gave birth to a second son, Shimon, saying: "Gd heard that I was unloved."
Leah gave birth to a third son, Levi, saying: "This time my husband will become attached to me, since I have given him three sons."
Leah gave birth to Yehudah, saying: "This time let me praise Gd."
Rachel told Yaakov: "Give me children or I'll die." He answered: "Can I take Gd's place? It is He who has withheld children from you."
Rachel gave Bilhah to Yaakov to have children through her.
Bilhah gave birth to Dan; Rachel said: "Gd has judged..."
Bilhah gave birth to Naphtali; Rachel said: "I have been twisted through Gd's roundabout way with my sister and I have prevailed."
Leah gave Yaakov Zilpah, who bore Gad. Leah said: "Success has come!"
Zilpah gave birth to Asher, and Leah said:"In my good fortune! The daughters will deem me fortunate!"
Reuven brought flowers from the field to Leah. Rachel asked Leah for them. Leah answered her: "It isn't enough that you take my husband; now you want my son's flowers?!" Rachel answered that if Leah would give her the flowers, she could sleep with Yaakov that night.
Yissachar was conceived. At his birth Leah said: "Gd has given me my reward because I gave my handmaid to my husband."
Leah gave birth to a sixth son, Zevulun, saying, "Gd has given me a good endowment. Now my husband will make his permanent home with me, because I bore him six sons."
Gd remembered Rachel, and she gave birth to Yosef, saying: "Add to me another."
Leah gave birth to Dina.

Yaakov's deal with Lavan --Genesis 29:25-43
Yaakov asked Lavan to let him leave, to return to his native region. Knowing that he was blessed because of Yaakov, Lavan tried to dissuade him, promising him any wages he asks. Yaakov agrees to tend the sheep for every lamb that is spotted or streaked, every brown sheep, and every streaked or spotted goat. Lavan agreed. He then separated out all such animals to ensure that there be no such offspring.
Yaakov put peeled rods of poplar, hazel, and chestnut in the water of the mating sheep. They then gave birth to streaked and spotted young. He only did this with the stronger ones, so the best animals were his. He thus became very prosperous.
Yaakov leaves Lavan --Genesis 31:1-32:3
Lavan's sons accused Yaakov of taking everything from their father.
Gd told Yaakov to return to his fathers' land.
Yaakov talked with Rachel and Leah, and they agreed to leave.
Rachel stole her father's idols.
Yaakov fled without telling Lavan.
Lavan was told of Yaakov's departure only on the third day.
Gd warned Lavan not to speak "good or bad" to Yaakov.
When he caught up with him at Mount Gilead, he said Yaakov robbed him and didn't let him kiss his grandsons or daughters goodbye.
He also accused him of stealing his idols. Without realizing it was Rachel, Yaakov said anyone guilty would die." Rachel hid the idols inside a camel cushion and sat down on them.
Yaakov defended himself, recounting how faithfully he had served Lavan for twenty years, in spite of his changing his wages ten times. Lavan insisted that everything and everyone Yaakov had actually belonged to him.
They made a pact over a mound of stones that Gd would keep watch between them when they were out of each other's sight. Neither would cross over the mound to the other with bad intentions.
As Yaakov re-entered the Land, the Angels of Gd joined him. He said, "This is Gd's camp." and named the place Machanaim (Twin Camps).
