Continuing from Episode 9, we open on Chad pointing a gun at Vic, with Carter and Harper standing in the alleyway behind them.

MALCOM (Voice Over)

There are defining moments in everyones lives when everything seems so clear. For one second. Where you only have one choice. And you either take the choice, that seems so clear, or you don't.”

CARTER

CHAD! DON’T!

HARPER
PUT THE GUN DOWN!

VIC
Please Chad. I didn’t kill her…

Chad looks at Vic and pulls the trigger.

Episode 10

Retribution

The scene changes to the house, with Simon Banks (the screenwriter who owns the house) coming up to the officers.

“I need to speak to whoevers in charge!” Simon shouts. Malcom catches him as Simon is moving to the house.

MALCOM

Mr. Banks.

“Are you in charge?” Simon asks.

MALCOM
What do you need?

“I want to turn myself in. I killed my wife. I made the bomb.”

Malcom looks at Renee, who is standing behind him.

The scene changes back to the alley, opening on Carter, who looks shocked. Carter gradually walks down the alleyway, in Chad’s direction. As he walks, we can see Harper behind him, crying. Carter reaches Chad, who has his gun lowered. Carter looks over at Van, who now lies at the edge of the alleyway, dead. A passerby walks into view, and quickly runs away.

CARTER
Give me the gun.

Carter takes the gun from Chad. Carter walks over to Van’s dead body and reaches behind his shirt, and pulls out his gun. Carter puts his gun in Vic’s hand, planting the weapon.

CHAD
Carter…

Harper walks over to Chad.

CARTER
I can’t lose two friends.

CHAD
You don’t…

CARTER
Shutup.

CHAD
I’m sorry.

HARPER
He had his gun drawn. Vic. He had the gun pointed at you.

CHAD
What?

HARPER
There’s nothing you could do.

Chad stands there, looking at his two teammates, who have just covered up his murder.

MALCOM (voice over)
There’s something I’ve learned in my short period of time, here on the squad. There’s a strong sense of family. A sense that cannot be broken or swayed. We’re not just Sparks. We’re brothers and sisters. And Carter is our father.

The scene changes to the police station, a couple of days later. Chad is in a room that looks much like a trial. Two superior officers, and Carter are seated behind a large desk.

“Officer Cooper. We cannot begin to understand the gravity of what you are feeling right now. Losing your father, and then your mother. Finding out that someone who was somewhat of a surrogate parent, and a confidant, was responsible in part for your mothers murder. However, your actions in the matter are still questionable. In this squad, your emotions could cost the team their lives. If you hesitate, even one second, more good men and women could be lost to you.”

The speaking officer turns to another officer.

“It is because of these reasons, we have decided merely to give you a six-month suspension. However, this suspension will only come if you do not take a six-month leave of your own. We wish, under this time, that you see a psychiatrist, and come back to the squad well rested.”

CARTER
Chad. You have to understand. I want you on my team. The LAPD wants you on the force. We just don’t want you… like this.

CHAD
I understand. And I will take the six month leave of absence.

“Then a suspension will not appear on your record.”

The scene changes to a funeral, with Chad seated with a row of his family members, watching a coffin being placed in the ground. The camera pans across to see Carter, Harper, Malcom, and Renee walking away from the funeral.

RENEE
Do you think he’ll be alright?

CARTER
He’s got six months to work it out. I’m sure he’ll be OK.

MALCOM
Did you recommend the six months?

CARTER
No, I recommended three.

HARPER
What do we do now?

CARTER
Well, I looked at some of the files for new recruits, and…

HARPER
You can’t be serious.

CARTER
I found two.

The rest of the team groans.

CARTER
They’re not Vic and Chad, but they’re still good candidates.

MALCOM
Well, I guess that means I’m not the new guy anymore.

They get in a car and drive away. The camera cuts back to Chad as he stands over the open grave and drops a rose in. He walks away and the screen gradually fades to black as he’s walking.
