Two 6" Broken Dishes Blocks

This is actually done with a quick piecing technique and is a ¼ square triangle block.

Cutting Instructions:

From Dark and Light fabrics, cut 1, 7 1/8" square.

You can cut these together, by laying your fabrics face to face before cutting.

(The formula for any ¼ square triangle is to add 1 1/8" to the finished size of the block. A 4" block will be cut 5 1/8" before cutting and sewing.)

Piecing Instructions:

Using a straight edge and a water soluble pen or a pen that does not show through to the other side of the fabric, draw a diagonal line from corner to corner, diagonally on the 7 1/8" square of light fabric.

Position this face to face over the dark square and sew ¼" from the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line. Press to the dark.

Then, mark one of the blocks again, and position it over the other block and sew ¼" away from the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line. The block should measure 6 ½" square.

*Be sure all seam allowances are an accurate ¼".
