Flying Geese Blocks:
Mary Bellew
Eight 6" Flying Geese Blocks
Cutting Instructions:
From darker fabric, cut 2, 3 ½" strips.
(If using fat quarters, cut 3, 3 ½" strips)
Cut these strips into 8, 3 ½" X 6 ½" rectangles.
From lighter fabric, cut 2, 3 ½" strips.
(If using fat quarters, cut 3, 3 ½" strips)
Cut these strips into 16, 3 ½" squares.
Piecing Instructions:
Using a straight edge and a water soluble pen or a pen that does not show through to the other side of the fabric, draw a diagonal line on all the 3 ½" squares from corner to corner.
Place a square over one end of each of the 3 ½" X 6 ½" rectangles, sew on the marked line. Hand press toward the corner of the rectangle. Cut off the extra piece of fabric in the center, not the background piece. Place the second square over the opposite end of the rectangles and do the same to them.
You should have 8 goose units that measure 3 ½" X 6 ½". Sew them together in sets of two (in the same direction), to make the 4, 6" blocks.
