Shortstop Honus Wagner had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Tiger Stadium as the
Athens Bobkittens beat the Cleveland Mayors by the count of 10 to 7.

Athens had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 5 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Javy Lopez who
made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he hit a 'grand salami' to the
delight of his teammates (his 1st of the season).  Athens simply wore out the
Cleveland pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

Harry Brecheen(1-0) went 2 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Pud Galvin(0-1)
was hit with the loss in relief.  He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in 1 and 2/3
innings.
