First baseman Orlando Cepeda lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI at Candlestick Park as the Sacramento Soches beat the Grand River Ghostmen 6 to 3. It was a good day for Sacramento thanks to Cepeda. He laced a base-knock plating two runs in the 3rd inning, blasted a solo shot (his 2nd of the season) in the 6th inning and doubled in the 8th inning. Grand River had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Whitey Ford(1-1) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Rollie Fingers earned his 3rd save. The loss was charged to Rube Waddell(1-1). He pitched 6 innings and surrendered 7 hits and 1 walk. |
