Ridgeville Bandits defeated the Sacramento Soches 9 to 3 at Candlestick Park. Fisk was unconscious out there. While Sacramento pitching was serving softballs up there for him to hit, the Sacramento fans were serving up some hardball barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel for the fire. He lined a single in the 5th inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 6th inning, cracked a two-run shot (his 4th of the season) in the 8th inning and laced a base-hit scoring a run in the 9th inning. N. Ridgeville had 14 hits overall, while Sacramento had 9. Dennis Martinez(1-0) allowed 1 run in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Monte Ward gained credit for his 2nd save. Juan Marichal(1-2) suffered the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. 'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there and being prepared,' Fisk said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game, and pitch by pitch.' |
