Harvey had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning with 3 runs using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Ted Williams opened up the rally as he drew a walk. Jeff Bagwell next to the plate and he doubled. One out later, Sam Thompson stepped in and he doubled scoring two teammates. Gabby Hartnett was up next and he was walked intentionally. Red Schoendienst stepped into the box and laced a base-knock scoring the final run of the inning. Dick Radatz was perfect in the ninth giving him his 3rd save on the season. Mike Stanton(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Jesse Tannehill(1-1) was the loser in relief. Tannehill was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I get a chance to redeem myself real soon!' |
