Eddie Collins had 2 base hits at League Park as the Cleveland Mayors beat the
N. Ridgeville Bandits 5 to 4.

Cleveland had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 3
runs using 4 hits.  George Sisler led off the inning for Cleveland when he
drew a walk.  Home Run Baker came to the plate and banged out a single.
Mickey Tettleton then lined a one-base hit knocking in a run.  Barry Larkin
came up and he lined a single to load the bases.  Edgar Martinez dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out.  Rod Carew kept things alive and singled
as two more runners crossed the plate.  Cleveland had a total of 10 hits for
the game. 

Slim Sallee(1-0) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory.
Sallee got relief help from Dennis Eckersley who gained credit for his 3rd
save.  The losing pitcher was Bob Gibson(0-1) in relief.
