Jeff Kent hit 3 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Lake Erie Mohawks won in dramatic
fashion over the N. Ridgeville Bandits by a score of 7 to 6 at Municipal
Stadium.

Lake Erie won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 5 runners on 2
hits.  The key at-bat was by Cupid Childs who silenced Municipal Stadium as
he laced a single bringing in two baserunners.  Lake Erie finished with just
6 hits in the victory.

Dick Hughes(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Hoyt
Wilhelm was credited with his 3rd save.  Jeff Reardon(0-2) was the losing
pitcher in relief.  He surrendered 3 runs and 2 hits in 1 inning.

'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Reardon said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done.  Our fans deserve better than this.'
