George Foster provided much of the offense. He laced a base-hit which plated a run in the 3rd inning, ripped a base-knock scoring two baserunners in the 4th inning and tripled clearing the bases in the 6th inning. Brentwood went down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th. The win was credited to Herb Pennock(1-0) who went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs. Eckersley was credited with his 4th save. Hal Newhouser(1-2) absorbed the loss in relief. 'I just got in the box, looked for a pitch and swung,' Foster said. 'That's it' |
