Mize was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He blasted a two-run home run in the 1st inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 6th of the season) in the 9th inning. Lake Erie had 14 hits for the night. The win was credited to Howie Camnitz(2-2) who went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 runs. Hoyt Wilhelm earned his 5th save. Vean Gregg(2-2) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 3 innings. |
