Brentwood took the lead off Rube Waddell in the first inning with 2 runs. George Van Haltren led off and started the rally when he was hit by a pitch. Two outs later Hank Greenberg came up and he drew a walk. Greenberg got a great jump and stole second easily. Sammy Sosa stepped in and he stroked a single which was good for two runs. The early run support proved sufficient for Nolan Ryan(3-3) and Brentwood. That was all the run support Ryan required. Brentwood had a total of 7 hits for the game. Goose Gossage earned the save, his 10th. Waddell(4-2) was the loser. He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. |
