Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Grand River came out on top in the 11th inning. Tim Raines led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. Raines swiped second base. Billy Williams then tripled driving in a run. Nap Lajoie was up next and he hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. Limerick went down without a fight in the bottom of the 11th. John Wetteland(1-2) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Wetteland was helped out by Nap Rucker who recorded his 1st save. Stan Coveleski(3-2) was given the loss in relief. He gave up 1 hit and 1 walk without retiring a batter. |
