In a thriller the Kelso Hilanders staged a dramatic comeback then held on to
win over the Cleveland Mayors by a score of 5 to 4 at League Park.

Kelso won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 3
base hits.  After two outs Roberto Clemente got things rolling when he hit a
single.  Joe Sewell stepped into the batter's box and he blasted a two-run
home run (his 1st of the season).  Kelso rapped out 9 hits for the night.

Ron Guidry(3-1) allowed 1 run in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Guidry
got help from Kazuhiro Sasaki who was credited with his 5th save.  Dennis
Eckersley(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.

Kelso's manager was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence.  Weird. but GREAT!'
