Cicotte(6-3) put on a good performance. He didn't allow much, just 1 hit and 5 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA from 4.03 to 3.72. The right-handed Cicotte had his no-hit bid broken up by Stan Musial who singled with two outs in the 9th inning. North Eaton had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Dick Radatz got the save, his 9th. The loss was charged to Jocko Flynn(4-5). He gave up 3 runs and 9 hits in 7 innings. 'We just made a lot of mistakes, mostly mental,' North Eaton's manager said. 'It's bad enough when the other team beats you, but when you start beating yourselves, that's really bad.' |
