Ryne Sandberg hit one over the fence as the Sacramento Soches outscored the
Lake Erie Mohawks 6 to 5.

Sacramento came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning scoring
2 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Lou Whitaker started the inning off right when
he slapped a single.  Rickey Henderson followed, but he was set down on
strikes.  Kirby Puckett then laced a base-knock.  One out later, Orlando
Cepeda stepped up to the plate and he singled scoring two baserunners.  Lake
Erie had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Kent Tekulve(2-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Tekulve was helped out by Rollie Fingers who recorded his 7th save.
Doc White(3-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  He allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in
2 innings.
