Second baseman Cupid Childs had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Lake Erie Mohawks
defeated the N. Ridgeville Bandits 14 to 8 at Municipal Stadium.

Childs had a big day with his bat.  He lined a base-hit in the 4th inning,
tripled plating all three baserunners in the 5th inning, banged out a single
in the 8th inning and slapped a one-base hit which scored a run in the 9th
inning.  Lake Erie bats were very productive in the 5th inning with 6 runs on
5 hits and the 8th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits.  N. Ridgeville was
not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory
eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win
ballgames.

John Candelaria(1-2) went 3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Vida
Blue(1-2) was charged with the loss in relief.  He was not very effective,
surrendering 5 runs in 2 innings.
