Bat Cracking had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs utilizing 4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Ozzie Smith keyed the rally when he laced a one-base hit. Goose Gossage then uncorked a wild pitch. Jackie Robinson then hit a single. Frankie Frisch was up next and he delivered a base-hit plating a run. Duke Snider came to the plate and stroked a single scoring another run. Gossage then bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch giving Bat Cracking the victory and sending the 46,560 home-town fans home happy. Brentwood had 11 hits in the game while Bat Cracking had 8, but Bat Cracking had the more timely hits. The victory went to Mario Soto(6-1) who went 2 innings, allowing 1 run. Gossage(1-4) took the loss in relief. Soto and Frisch were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind victory. As Bat Cracking's manager noted, 'A win like this one can do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!' |
