29,149 fans were treated to a fine game at League Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Cleveland Mayors won by the
slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.

Cleveland came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th
inning with 2 runs on 3 hits.  Paul Waner led off and keyed the rally when he
delivered a single.  Eddie Collins was next and he banged out a single.  Rod
Carew then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  George Sisler followed and he laced a
one-base hit scoring two baserunners.  Sisler took second on the throw.  The
game was a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.

The victory went to Herb Pennock(5-8) who went 8 innings, allowing 1 run.
Dennis Eckersley earned his 19th save.  Kid Nichols(5-5) took the loss in
relief.  He surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk in 2 innings.
