The right-handed Mathewson lost his chance for a no-hitter when Goose Goslin homered with one out in the 7th inning. Limerick had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Bruce Sutter got the save, his 22nd. The loss was charged to Billy Pierce(4-5). Despite losing Jimmy Dugan was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over this one.
