Christy Mathewson carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning and Hank Aaron had 4
hits and 3 RBI as the Bat Cracking Bombers defeated the Limerick Hurlers by
the score of 5 to 4 at Shibe Park.

Mathewson(12-7) pitched a solid game.  He went 7 innings allowing 3 hits and
no walks and served up 2 'big flies'.  The right-handed Mathewson lost his
chance for a no-hitter when Goose Goslin homered with one out in the 7th
inning.  Limerick had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up
short.

Bruce Sutter got the save, his 22nd.  The loss was charged to Billy
Pierce(4-5).  Despite losing Jimmy Dugan was optimistic after the game.
'We'll get over this one.  Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they
don't.  Any one of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on
top.'
