ULL offers some details of land deal
The plan is to give those 35 acres to a company called BRE-ARD LLC, formed on July 29 by Scott businessman Daniel Menard and Jerry Brents of Lafayette, according to the Secretary of State. Brents is a member-emeritus of the UL-Lafayette Foundation's Board of Trustees. In turn, ULL would receive 4 acres "between UL-Lafayette's main campus and Lafayette General Medical Center," according to the release.
Suspect Swap
The 4 acres includes two home sites and a storage building valued at a total of $846,000. Based on the appraisal, the real estate and buildings are valued at $18 a square foot. Land sales on Ambassador Caffery Parkway, one of the hottest commercial corridors in town, have averaged about $10.55 per square foot. River Ranch has yet to sell any commercial land as high as $18 a square foot.
