Media Dodging Air War in Iraq
Here's a big reason why: Major U.S. news outlets are dodging the extent of the Pentagon's bombardment from the air, an avoidance all the more egregious because any draw-down of U.S. troop levels in Iraq is very likely to be accompanied by a step-up of the air war.
The Prospects for Democracy in Iraq
Ironically, the greatest example of free speech and a free press in the Middle East is al-Jazeera television, which Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and President Bush both seem to hate. They hate it because it reports what they don't want reported, which is, after all, the essence of a free press. To our everlasting shame, we bombed al-Jazeera's offices in Afghanistan and in Baghdad. The official lie that they were both accidents doesn't hold a teacup of water. The idea that two small offices in different countries but belonging to the same company could be hit from 15,000 feet by accident is improbable as hell.
Germany's victim of extraordinary rendition

Mr Masri was handcuffed, blindfolded, injected with drugs and put on a plane. He awoke several hours later in Afghanistan and taken to a prison cell with a filthy blanket and dirty drinking water. An English-speaking doctor arrived to take a blood sample. He was accompanied by guards who repeatedly punched him.
Brand X
There you have it. President Loser. Leader of the Grand Old Hypocrisy Party that became the National Incompetence Party when they took power and used their power to Loot and Pollute. IRAQ: NO DEAL FOR SUNNI GROUPS WILLING TO FIGHT AL QAEDA
President Bush's adamant rejection of a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq effectively slams the door on a recent reported offer from Sunni resistance groups to eliminate the al Qaeda terrorist haven in Iraq as part of a negotiated peace agreement.
