Born in Queens New York, Felicia grew up always
trying to please her mother, Lydia Hardy, in her gymnastics
routines, and other various extracurricular activites as well as
school. Her father, Walter Hardy, was never home, Felicia
believed that he was on business trips. It's what her mother told
her anyways. Despite the fact that he was never home, Felicia was
still attached to him, and loved him very much.
- One day after Felicia had come home
after cheerleading pratice, Lydia told Felicia that he
had died. In a fit of emotional rage, Felicia took off.
On the street, she saw a newspaper that said Walter Hardy
had been arrested. Wondering why her mother lied to her,
Felicia went to the library to check up on what her
father had done. It was then that Felicia learned about
his criminal record of being a cat burglar. The next day
after a gymnastics meet, Felicia was in the car on her
way home with her mother, who was scolding her about not
getting a gold. Felicia didn't care all that much; she
was too busy picturing her father, who was smiling at her
and being proud.
- A few years passed, and Felicia was
in Queens High School. All the guys were attracted to
her, often offering her rides home. The girls were
jealous, and who wouldn't be? Felicia was (and still is)
a beautiful, rich lady, with tons of talent. Anyways, on
the way home one day, a mugger tried to steal her bag.
Felicia, not being the frail woman, didn't let this go,
and kneed the mugger in the stomach, and took off. She
felt no fear, she never felt more excited or more alive.
The next day, Felicia joins Sensei Miyagi Kanryo's karate
class.

- Felicia learns the finer points in
Okinawa Goju Ryu (a Japanese form of self defense) over
the next few years, and rises in rank fast. After a class
one day, she forgets her keys and is forced to break into
her own house. What the suprising thing is, is that she
broke into it in under 2 minutes! She then realizes that
all these years, trying to be "mommy's prefect
prodigy," she was really daddy's little girl all
along. Later that night, she sneaks into her mothers room
while she is sleeping to open the safe in her room. After
opening it, she finds her father's lock picks. She is
clearly good at them, demonstrating her skills by opening
her friends' locker that has been jammed shut for over a
week with ease.
- It's not too long before a reporter
on a news program says that Walter Hardy, the once
notorious jewel thief is dying of cancer. Lydia
appologises to Felicia, saying that she should have told
her the truth a long time ago. She also tells Felicia
that her father told her once that he was afraid to die
alone, and when the time came for him, he wanted to be
home with his family. Felicia, wanting her father's wish
to come true, creates a black and white costume, and
comes up with the name "The Black Cat." The
name was easy enough to pick...Felicia's best friend,
Onyx, was a black cat, her favourite story about cats was
the "Never cross a black cat's path" legend,
and besides, the word "cat" fell nicely in
front of "burglar."
- The Black Cat's first job was
breaking into the 159th St. Police Station to steal files
on Emil Greco, Walter Hardy, Dr. Boris Korpse and Bruno
Grainger. She recurited both Bruno and Boris as her
henchmen, and contacted Emil about getting fire arms.
While going to Emil's office, Spider-Man catches a
glimpse of TBC, and after he sees her going to pay a
visit to Emil, he follows her, and they fight. Before
leaving with the guns, the Black Cat lifts up Spider-Man's
mask half way and kisses him. Later on, Spidey makes a
connection after hearing something about the four files
being stolen on the radio, and he heads on over to the
jail where Walter Hardy is being held. Sure enough, the
Black Cat is there, about to break Hardy out. Spider-Man
probably would have been able to stop her if it weren't
for a little bad luck, and the wall being blown
up, burring him in the rubble and dislocating his
shoulder.
- The Black Cat brings Walter Hardy
home, and reveals to him that she is in fact, his
daughter, Felicia and how she was training to follow in
his footsteps. He tries to dissuade her, but Lydia comes
home so Felicia leaves. Apparently, Spider-Man has
located her whereabouts, and when she leaves the house,
they have another fight. It leads onto the roof top,
which happens to be over the rocky shores of the East
River. She slips and falls, but Spidey manages to grab
her arm. Unfortunately, thanks to his dislocated shoulder
from earlier on, he can't hold his grip and the Black Cat
falls. He thinks she is dead, and leaves the scene. At
the same time, Walter Hardy dies.
- It turns out that Felicia really
wasn't dead after all! What a suprise! Anyways, it turns
out that she has stolen the Golden Lovers and the Rajah
Ruby, and later on she steals a Caruso Cylinder as well
as the Helen Epistle. All four items are romantic relics,
which Felicia stole for Spider-Man. She reveals that her
mother was worried about her following in her fathers
footsteps and she wanted Felicia to get professional
help, so she thought what better help the Spider-Man? She
also reveals that she's fallen in love with him as well.
So Spidey takes her to a hospital to get help.
- Eventually, Felicia breaks out of
the hospital and steals a painting, and setting off the
alarm on purpose. She also tells Spider-Man to meet her
where they first met. They fight, but after telling him
she's willing to go straight, she gets away and leaves
the painting in a cylinder along with a note saying
she'll be at a costume party. They both go, and it turns
out that the party is being hosted by a gang. They manage
to stop the raid and leave before the police show up, and
on the roof they kiss. :) Anyways, Spider-Man tries to
convince Captain Jean DeWolff to grant the Black Cat an
amnesty. Felicia steals something else again (bad habits
are hard to break, you know) but Spider-Man finds her and
tells her to put it back. Unfortunately, Spider-Man sets
off the alarm and it turns out that the people living
there belong to another gang. After stopping the gang,
and getting a bullet in the leg, Spidey chases after
Felicia who had taken off. Spidey webs her up from neck
to toe, but she jumps into the river off the docks
anyways. Thinking that he's lost her again, she climbs
back up where Captain DeWolff hands him the amnesty for
the Black Cat, which he throws off the side of the docks
where he sits alone.

COSTUME
1-
MASK
Used to hide Felicia's face while in costume. 2-
CHOAKER
A decorative piece to accent the costume. At
first, jewels were attached to it, but later on
they were replaced by spikes.
3-
COLLAR FUR
Previously used as either decoration, or to keep
warm. This was removed after a long period of
time.
4-
ARM FUR
Attached to the top of the gloves. It hides the
grappling hooks hidden underneath.
5-
CLAWS
TBC's main weapon. They are attached to the
gloves. (Obviously ;)
6-
GLOVES
- When TBC was a cat
burglar, these came in handy for keeping finger
prints off of things. Now, they are used to hold
the claws and grappling hooks.
7-
CATSUIT
The black spandex that covers TBC's body. It's
thermal as well, keeping her toasty warm on those
cold nights in the city.
8-
LEG FUR
Trims the top of TBC's boots. Most likely used
for decoration, and to match the arm fur.
9-
BOOTS
Makes it easy on the feet. There is probably
grips on the bottom as well, to make it easier to
scale walls and slippery surfaces, and to give
the best grip possible.
