PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW

 

Dear Parents:

Welcome to ACLD remedial-tutorial program! Our objective is to provide the best possible help to your child, so that he/she will feel success and self-confidence. There are a few things, which you can do to insure a greater level of achievement:

 

  1. Please be ON TIME for your scheduled session. Because other students will be arriving at the next hour, there will be no extension of time with a teacher for latecomers.

 

  1. If for some reason your child cannot attend a session, please be sure to call our office or his teacher (see numbers below) at least one hour prior to tutoring, so that his absence will be an "excused absence". If we do not hear from you, his absence will be considered "unexcused" and you will have to be charged for that hour (because the teacher has planned and is prepared to receive your child).

 

  1. Our "open door" policy permits you to have conferences at any time in which you or the teacher feels the need for conversation.

 

 

  1. We urge you to become an active and involved member of ACLD. It is in ACLD that you   will learn to understand your child and to be educated as to your rights to an appropriate education for your child.

 

The attitude that you hold and reveal to your child about his experience in our remedial-tutorial program will have an definite effect upon his outlook towards our relationship and towards education in general. We hope to establish a feeling of friendship between the teacher and the student.  We want the student to look upon his teacher not as just "someone who cares", but as a TEACHER who cares.

Important ACLD Policy On Attendance

  ACLD does permit excused absences.

To be excused:

Call: 724-346-5887

nabull1  At least one hour before the scheduled session.

nabull1  Leave a message for your teacher.

nabull1  If you do NOT attend your appointment time, and we do not have an excused absence:

nabull1  YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE HOUR

 

(The teacher is here and waiting. Her time is valuable. We want to serve your child in the best possible way.)

 

THREE UNEXCUSED ABSENCES WILL RESULT IN DISMISSAL FROM THE PROGRAM.

 

It is also imperative that your account be up to date!

(None of this is new...but we have been forced to bring this to your attention, since we are a non-profit, service organization)

 

YOUR CHILD MUST SHOW HIS/HER BUHL CLUB CARD EVERYTIME HE/SHE ENTERS THE CLUB FOR TUTORING.

 

(If you do not have a regular membership, a special ACLD tutor card may be purchased at the entrance to the Buhl Club for $12.00. This card will allow your child to enter and use the facilities of the club whenever he/she is scheduled for a tutor session during a 12 month calendar year.)
