MC ON "STAR" - UPDATE -
![]() MARIAH CAREY BATTLES FOR HER HONOR Pop diva Mariah Carey is determined to hold her head up in public, even as her sister Alison prepares to drag her through the mud by revealing the singer's darkest secrets in a bombshell new book. But in private, Mariah, who has heard the book discussed on The View and endured Tonight Show host Jay Leno's off-color jokes about it and her sister's past, is shattered, say pals. "Mariah is stunned," says one friend. "She's being painted as some kind of boy-crazy orphan who grew up in a hellhole where child sex abuse, drug dealing and violence and parents who cheated were part of their everyday lives. She told me: 'I can't believe Alison would do this to me after all I've done to help her out.' " A copy of an outline of the book titled Mariah and Me, obtained exclusively by Star, contains the following shocking allegations: "This book is just as scandalous as you can get," one top New York literary agent tells Star. "I think it'll be a blockbuster and it'll break Mariah's heart." Trouble plagued the Carey family from the day Mariah was born - March 27, 1970. Alison, who was 8, reveals that she was so jealous of her baby sister she set the house on fire when newborn Mariah came home. Incredibly, everyone escaped. But Morgan was by no means a loving brother, either, Alison says. "He's had a touch of cerebral palsy, which made one leg shorter than the other," she writes. "But these physical problems were nothing compared to his psychological state." According to Alison, Morgan tried to kill both Mariah and her. She says her parents were never around and it fell to her to make sure little Mariah survived his attacks. "Morgan threw gasoline on the floor outside the bedroom and threatened to light it," Alison recalls. "I put Mariah on my back and climbed out the window onto a tree and down the yard." Alison also says that her parents, Alfred and Patricia, were battling so badly that they eventually split in 1973 when Mariah was only 3. A few years later, Alison moved out of the house and got married at the tender age of 15, but she stayed in touch with her little sister as things deteriorated. "Mariah and my mother moved to get away from Morgan after he knocked my mother unconscious," says Alison. "A lot of the time, though, our mother wasn't there," Alison said in an interview. "And Mariah was left home all alone." Alison claims there was also a scary incident in which one of her mother's live-in-lovers "shot up the house like a sniper, sending her and Mariah out on the street homeless." Alison further claims that she was sexually abused from the age of 5 by a school doctor, neighbors and even a family member. While her sister makes no claim that Mariah was a victim, an insider says that is the dark hint she is trying to convey between the lines. "I think Alison wants the readers to conclude that there was rampant sexual abuse going on in their home and no one tried to stop it or protect her or Mariah," says a source. Shockingly, Alison claims she often supported the Carey family by prostituting herself, says a friend. And she says she continued turning tricks as Mariah struggled to make it as a singer. "If you believe Alison, the only reason Mariah made it in show business is because Alison paid for her clothes and parties and limos to chauffeur her to auditions in style," an insider reveals. "And Alison earned the money as a drug-addicted street prostitute." Alison also trashes Mariah by claiming she had dozens of boyfriends while still in her early teens - "including one who was a drug dealer who Mariah still carried on with after he was sent to prison," says the insider. These accusations couldn't come at a worse time for the chart-busting singer, who recently completed a sold-out tour supporting her latest hit recording, Rainbow. After divorcing Tommy Mottola, 51, in 1997, Mariah's love life has been turbulant. But she finally seems to have found peace in the arms of Latin music superstar Luis Miguel. And she's never turned her back on her sister. Alison's lawyer Robert Venturo tells Star that Mariah gives her sister money to live on every month. "Mariah has always seen to it that Alison and her three children's real needs are met, but Alison wants more than that," says a childhood pal. Insiders who know both sisters say Alison risks destroying Mariah in her bid to cash in on her sister's fame. She's been through three marriages, lost custody of one of her children and only sees her oldest boy occasionally. She's HIV-positive and lives out of welfare hotels in Manhattan when she can afford it or her car when she can't. "There's nothing in Mariah's past that she's trying to hide or has to be ashamed of," says a friend. "Mariah's been loving and generous to Alison for years, hoping her sister would get her life back together, but nothing seems to help. Now Alison has chosen a terrible way to pay back Mariah's love." |

(TAKEN FROM: RollingStone.com) ************************************** MARIAH WINS FEDERAL COURT ORDER Mariah Carey won a federal court order in Las Vegas that compels two Canadian companies and their two officers to stop using her federally registered trademark to advertise their fan appreciation Internet website. The singer in February sued Jeff Burgar and Justin Lumsden, who allegedly operate and manage General Webgroup and Internet North, an Alberta-based Internet service provider doing business as Mariah Carey Club and Celebrity Club. The suit said the Mariah Carey Club and Celebrity Club is operated by General Webgroup, which allegedly rented a mailbox for fan mail at 1350 East Flamingo Road in Las Vegas. The suit alleged the defendants registered the domain name MARIAHCAREY.COM and were using the name to draw web users to their fan appreciation website at www.celebrity1000.com. The order requires the defendants to relinquish all rights they hold in the Internet domain name and to transfer that name to Carey. The order also enjoins the defendants from registering and using any domain names that bear "Mariah Carey," "Mariah" or any "intentional misspellings of (the name) Mariah Carey." NEW VERSION OF "BELIEVE"
A new version of "When You Believe" will be featured on the Sony Music compilation release titled "Movie Classics Volume 1", which will be released next year (2001) but the thing is, the new version, will be basically the same but this version will NOT FEATURE WHITNEY HOUSTON, you see, After much internal negotiations, Columbia Records decided not to let Arista put "When You Believe", the academy award-winning title track for Dreamworks "Prince of Egypt", on Whitney Houston's upcoming "Greatest Hits" album (Arista, Release: May 16th). Columbia Records, who bought the rights for the Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey duet last week, caused several delays in Arista's production schedule. A new re-written and Houston-Free version of the song will be available on "Movie Classics Vol. 1", to be released next year (2001) |

JANEL RECOVERS
As many of you know, Mariah's friend and fan, Janel Spiegel, went to the hospital for a major surgery. Janel broke her while skating almost 10 years ago. Since then, Janel has been wheel-chair bounded. After a long stay in the hospital, and after a few complications, Janel returned home Tuesday and yesterday she was able to walk (with a walker) for the first time in almost a decade. She said she was very scared but Mariah's lyrics and your wishes, prayers, and good luck did her well and gave her self-confidence! Janel is tired from the operation and will be a while before she FULLY recovers. But everyday is brighter and brighter for Janel, so please continue to wish her the best and Janel send a VERY BIG "THANK YOU" TO ALL HER SUPPORTED AND ROOTED FOR HER! IT'S GREATLY APPRECIATED! |

"CRYBABY" VIDEO!
"CRYBABY" has been finally seen! Not by me, but by Desiree, among other fans! Here's a description of the video: It starts off with Mariah in her bed in her pajamas. She's holding a little digital messenger thing and writing messages. Then it starts to get a little revealing. She goes into the bathroom, takes off her clothes (they just show her feet with the clothes coming down), and she goes into the bathtub filled with bubbles. Then she sings a little in there. After that, she goes into something like a living room/kitchen where she sits by the stereo, and then goes into the kitchen and gets some "Lucky Charms" cereal to eat and drink. For Snoop Dogg's rap, she watches a TV with him on it saying the rap. After that, when the chorus keeps repeating, they just flash back and forth from all the shots they had so far. And that's about it. As I said, I thought it was great. It's directed by Sanaa Hamri, the same person who directed the TGIFY remix video. Also, the video doesn't take up the whole screen; it's sort of like a Hype Williams video where they just use the middle of the screen and the rest is black. Also, Mariah throws a champange glass which smashes into the window, it ends with her lying on the sofa wrapped in a comforter. Part of it is in slow motion |

MARIAH APPEARS IN ADDITION COMMERCIAL!
Mariah appears in a brand new commercial for Nockelodeon's "BIG HELP" Project. In the commercial, which is on roation on Nickelodeon, among other stations, Mariah is running with children, swinging in a tire swing, among many other outdoor activities. She is wearing her infamouse rainbow top. And, just for your info, the Mission of the "BIG HELP" Program is To connect kids to their communities through volunteering. The Big Help started with kids! Kids told Nickelodeon they were concerned about people, animals and the environment. They wanted to make a difference in their communities and the world. "JET" MAGAZINE UPDATE!
Okay here it is you guys, like I promised, the article/scans of "JET" Magazine. Yesterday I reported Mariah appears on their May 01, 2000 issue of the magazine. I must say, it's nothing really special about it. The cover is the same pic as the "Thank God I Found You" single and there is only one pic inside and it's really small and we've all seen it and the part about Mariah is only a small paragraph, but I typed the whole thing out! So here it is! Enjoy! ********************************************** ![]() To be young, gifted and black is a wonderful thing. And, to be a millionaire as well surely doesn’t hurt. Entertainers such as Master P, Lauryn Hill, Sean “Puffy” Combs and Mariah Carey know hoe it feels to be young, gifted, Black and wealthy, because they are among music’s new young millionaires. Percy Miller has taken the music world by storm within a few years as hip-hop superstar Master P. At Just 29, the popular rapper-entrepreneur already has net worth of $361 million! As a performer and CEO of No Limit Records-an independent record label that he owns 100 percent-Master P has created an entertainment conglomerate. Under the No Limit banner he owns No Limit Films, No Limit Sports, No Limit Clothes and No Limit Etc., which markets shoes and toys. His albums include “Ghetto D”, “MP Da Last Don”, and “Only God Can Judge Me”. Both the album and the song won Puffy Grammy Awards that year. He’s also had success with his line of clothing, Sean John, restaurants, and a magazine. ![]() Grammy Award-winning hip-hop songstress, Lauryn Hill, 24, is a millionaire. They’ve become millionaire through their music, TV Shows, and films, while rap star Ice Cube, another veteran, has become a millionaire through his music and films. Will Smith, as the Fresh Prince, first won fame along with his partner, DJ Jazzy Jeff, as the first rap group to win a Grammy Award in 1988. Just recently, Smith has been enjoying a second-wind of success as a rapper. Smith’s debut album, “Big Willie Style” sold more than 3 million copies with songs such as “Men In Black”, “Getting Jiggy Wit It”, “Just The Two Of Us” and “Miami”. Ice Cube’s big bucks have also come from his work in film. Jermaine Dupri, 27, also is one of music’s young millionaires. The hit making rapper, producer and CEO of So So Def Records was a millionaire at the age of 20 due to the phenomenal success of the work he did with his So So Def artists Kriss Kross and Da Brat, the first female rapper to go platinum. Then, a few years ago, Dupri earned even more money as the man who made Usher a superstar with the album “My Way”, which Dupri exectuive-produced. Dupri stepped from behind the scenes a couple of years ago to record his own album as a rapper, “Life In 1472”, which earned him a Grammy nomination and went on to sell millions. Rap Star Jay-Z, 29, came into the big bucks a short while ago with the release of his triple platinum album “Vol 2…Hard Knock Life”, which earned him a Grammy Award last year. His hit tunes include “Ain’t No Nigga”, “Hard Knock Life”, “The City Is Mine”, and “Sunshine”. In addition to that best-selling album, he is CEO of Roc-A-Fella Records, along with Damon Dash, and has a clothing line, Roc-A-Wear, which has been around for nearly three years. His current album “Vol. 3…The Life and Times of Shawn Carter”, has sold more than a million copies and is sure to cement his millionaire status even further. Music producer Rodney Jerkins is a mere 22 years old and already he’s a millionaire. Producing under the moniker Darkchild, Jerkins may not be a household name but the hit songs he’s written and produced for big-name singers certainly are well known. Recently inking a million-dollar deal, he is one of the youngest to start up his own record label, Darkchild. The classically trained pianist was behind Brandy and Monica’s Grammy Award-winning “The Boy Is Mine”, Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay”, Brandy’s “On Top Of The World”, Joe’s “Don’t Wanna Be A Player”, Jennifer Lopez’s “If You Had My Love” and Toni Braxton’s latest, “He Wasn’t Man Enough For Me”. DMX, 28, and Juvenile, 25, are two of hip hop’s biggest names. The hit-making rappers have become millionaires with their chart-busting albums and singles. DMX made music history last year as the first performer to ever release two albums in the same year that both debuted at No.1 on the Hot 200 Billboard record charts. The album “It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot” and “Flesh Of My Flesh Blood of My Blood”, both went platinum. His popular songs spawned from the hit albums include “Ruff Ryders Anthem”, “Slippin’” and “What’s My Name”. His record sales increased like crazy when he was nominated for a Grammy for the first album and made an appearance in the movie “Belly” Juvenile is wealthy thanks to his platinum-selling tune “Back That Thang Up”. The song was an instant smash, along with his other big tune, “Ha”, and helped to propel Juvenile to millionaire status. His album, “400 Degreez” remains on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart. His latest album “Tha G-Code” was released in December and has sold a million copies and counting. Juvenile records under the Cash Money recording label along with fellow “Cash Money Millionaires” Lil’ Wayne and B.G., whose hit “Bling Bling” features Juvenile, Baby, Turk, and Manny Fresh. |

"MARIAH"'S SIGNIFIGANCE!
We all know Mariah was named after the song "They Call The Wind Mariah" from the musical play "Paint Your Wagon", with "Mariah" being an indian word for "Wind". So anyway, but according the Name Society, this is what the name "Mariah" signifies: Your name of Mariah creates an intense desire for association with people and new experiences, many of which have been rather bitter. This name has given you a gregarious personality and a quick-thinking, creative, and versatile nature, but one that is unstable emotionally. You desire change and travel and would enjoy opportunities that allowed you to be creative and to act independently, rather than to conform to system and routine. However, this name does not allow you to complete your undertakings, as farther fields always look greener. ARTICLES OF THE DAY!
Almost everyday we have articles, so you can expect the latest articles about Mariah to appear right here. If you are new to the site, let's make it clear that every article is separated by stars (**************) Here are todays' articles: ************************************************ Carey prostitution claims blasted Mariah Carey has responded to the allegations that her rise to superstardom was paid for by her sister's prostitution. Carey's elder sister Alison has written an as-yet-unpublished book chronicling her rags-to-riches story, in which she alleges that she put Mariah on the path to fame by selling her body. However, a spokesman for Carey, the most successful female artist ever, insisted: 'Mariah has financially supported her older sister since she made her first album. Any illicit activities her sister engaged in were for her own means. 'This is a woman who has been in and out of rehab and other treatment centres, also paid for by Mariah. It is a sad situation,' the spokesman commented. (TAKEN FROM: dotmusic) ****************************************** SOFIA: muy caliente There's key information missing from Chicago-based magazine Velocity's cover story on Latina bombshell Sofia Vergara: who her ex-boyfriends are. As The Post reported, the bodacious model dated both heartthrob crooner Luis Miguel, and accused mobster Chris Paciello. Vergara was present at Paciello's bail hearing, and she spent the night on Miguel's yacht a couple of days before he spent the weekend with new flame Mariah Carey. (TAKEN FROM: The Los Angeles Times) ****************************************** ONE SISTER HELPS ANOTHER Everybody knows that the career of the exuberant singer Mariah Carey, super famous at the moment, just happened because of her ex-husband Tommy Mottola, the head of Sony Music. Right now her older sister, Alison, appeared to tell everybody that she gave a little contribucion on Mariah's career too. She was a hooker in New York, payed for her fancy cars and dresses that Mariah used to wear to go to the auditions (especially to Tommy's audition). Alison says that her sister only tells "5% of her true life" and that the rest of the crap she will tell in her book "Mariah and Me", that is near to be released. The singer's agent says that Alison "is going in and out the addiction hospitals" and that "they don't even know if the book really does exist". ****************************************** Mariah's love life in trouble Mariah Carey is fuming that her boyfriend, Mexican crooner Luis Miguel, is cheating on her with a sexy blonde. The leggy songbird's feathers are ruffled because she thinks that Luis Miguel and his ex-girlfriend, Spanish TV star Sofia Vergara had a midnight rendezvouz on a $15 million yacht in Miami's Biscayne Bay while Mariah was on tour. Sofia slipped back to shore just before dawn -- wearing a different outfit than when she went on board, pals say. Rumblings of hanky-panky reached Mariah within hours -- the Spanish language Univision telivision ran a grainy clip of Sofia coming abroad. "Bad enough that Mariah had to hear it from her pals, but when the footage made it into telivision -- not only in Miami, but all over the Latin world -- it was an embarrasment", said a close friend of Mariah. Sofia is the host of the top game show for Hispanic teens called "I Dare You", which is broadcasted in the US. She has also appeared in an episode of Baywatch and her website has received 40 million visitors in a three month span. To a pal, Sofia claimed that Luis spent the whole time talking about Mariah. ##VERY SPECIAL GOES OUT TO SID FROM INDIA FOR TYPING THIS OUT! BIG THANKS!## |

MARIAH/CHRISTINA UPDATE!
You remember all those rumors going on about Mariah and Christina?? Well, it turns out they are completely flase. I have already mentioned that they are flase, but here is even more proof, taken from Christina's official website: RUMOR MILL: MARIAH CAREY * Mariah Carey refused to take pictures with Christina on 'Top Of The Pops.' * Is it true that Mariah and Christina don't get along? * I heard a rumor that Mariah Carey did not want Christina to perform at 'Divas 2000.' So VH-1 put Christina on 'Men's Strike Back.' I know Christina was a huge admirer of Mariah. I also heard that Mariah did not even want to take a picture with Christina. FALSE. Christina could not do VH-1's 'Divas 2000' because of a commitment to perform on Saturday Night Live the same night. It is completely untrue to say Christina and Mariah don't get along - they have never met. Christina looks forward to meeting Mariah one day and of course, would be honored to perform with her if the occasion ever arose |

TONI LIKES MC!!!!
Toni Braxton did an interview recently with the Los Angeles Times and this is what she said about Mariah: Q:What artists do you admire? A:"I'm a huge Celine Dion fan. I really admire Mariah Carey. I think she's so underrated, because she's a great producer, a wonderful writer, and no one gives her props for that. They always say, "Oh look, did you see what she had on?" And this and that. I'm like, she's 30 years old, she's not 70 with breasts hanging like chickens! She's young, she's beautiful, she has a great body! I just think she's wonderful, and I think people beat her up a little too much." (Excerpt from the The Los Angeles Times) |

ARTICLES OF THE DAY!
ARTICLES -- SEPARATED BY STARS *********************************** Carey kin in crisis Several years ago, I met Mariah Carey's sister, Alison, who was not only HIV positive, but in a battle with her mother for custody of her son. Well, the former prostitute, who claimed her wages of sin helped pay for limos to transport Mariah to her early gigs, is in dire straits again. Since she was in the news, Alison lost custody of the boy, her second-born; has had intermittent contact with her oldest son; and two years ago gave birth to another son. When she can afford it, she and the boy live in a welfare hotel. And when they can't, they live in the car. Despite recent stories to the contrary, she has not written a book, she has not gotten big bucks for selling her story, and she is not being supported by Mariah, although the star does contribute to her survival. But not enough to keep a roof over her head. On Thursday night, Alison and the baby spent the night in the car in Huntington, L.I., and were desperately looking for a place to live. [TAKEN FROM: The New York Post. By Linda Stasi.] *********************************************** MARIAH'S THEME HITS THE BIG POT MARIAH CAREY Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme) (4.01) Carey delivers the single that her die-hard fans have been hankering since the release of her fine "Rainbow" opus. Gossip-mongers will have a field day dissecting the lyrics, given that the song is subtitled "Mariah's Theme." Ultimately, what they'll find is a sweet, well-crafted anthem of personal empowerment in which Carey deftly straddles the line between everywoman and soothsayer. She fleshes out her lyrics with a performance that comfortably glides from soft verses to appropiately dramtaic belting at the chrous. While there's certainly a familiarity that will trigger comparisons to past hits like "Hero," a sharp ear will detect a raw, emotional edge in Carey's vocal that elevates "Can't Take That Away" miles above previous efforts. Added pleasure and inspiration can be found in David Morales' uptempo dance remix, which is destined for club saturation. The remix is also a suitable entry to radio stations in need of a respite from the ongoing glut of chirpy-voiced teen acts. [Source: Billboard] |

MC/ALISON BOOK - PHONY!
![]() ____________________________ I MADE MARIAH A STAR, SAYS HER HOOKER SISTER! Mariah Carey's sister has sensationally cliamed that she launched the superstar's singing career... with her earnings as a hooker! In an explosive new book, Alison tells how her life of vice paid for the limousine which took Mariah to her first singing audition. Alison says she also bough Mariah her first stage clothes and gave her cash for food and rent before she became a huge star with hits like Vision Of Love. Yet, Alison, 33, a former heroin addict infected with the HIV virus, claims Mariah, 26, has now turned her back on her when she needs her most. Last week she was evicted from her New York apartment for failing to pay the rent... while Mariah lives in a £10 million mansion in upstate New York with Tommy Mottola, head of the Sony record company in America. Vincent Presto, who is helping Alison with the book, said she was disowned by the family when she started working as a hooker... even though she used the money to support her mother, sister and brother. "Her motivation in writing the book in not revenge," Presto insisted. "But after being branded everything from a scarlet woman to a bad mother, she wants to set the record straight." In the book dark-haired Alison, who closely resembles her superstar sister, tells how the family grew up moving from one home to another before settling in a flat in Long Island known as "Party Central". Presto says Alison was sexually abused from the age of five by a doctor and neighbours. Alison also recalls several of Mariah's former boyfriends, including a convicted drug dealer who tried to win her back from behind bars. "Mariah's wholesome image could be torpedoed by this book." said a publishing source. "Alison's got nothing to lose and she is very bitter. She feels she protected her sister from the cruel street, only to be repaid by rejection. It's the story of a woman who has everything - and a woman who has nothing. Alison and Mariah couldn't be at further ends of the scale". Last night Mariah's friends furiously denied Alison's claims. They said she had done everything in her power to help her sister but had severed the relationship becuase of Alison's drug addiction. Last year, Mariah and her mother Patricia staged a dramatic rescue mission to snatch away Alison's seven-year-old son Michael, claming that he was living among drug addicts and lowlifes. Michael is now living with his grandmother. (TAKEN FROM: The Sunday Mirror, May 19, 1996) |

MORE INSULTS BY JOAN!
After making a very rude comment about Mariah back in 1998 at the Oscars, Joan Rivers became the #1 most hated person by Mariah fans and recently, Mariah and Joan have put that behind them and made up. In fact, Joan EVEN appeared in Mariah's Tour Opening Video!! But....Joan in back to her mean ways! On a recent "Politically Incorrect" show, they were talking about sex on the 2nd date. And Joan said, "If elephant man was sitting next to Mariah Carey with 30 dollars in his pocket, she would jump him." I find this very insulting and I really don't know what Joan's problem is! Maybe she should consult her local doctor for a head examination!! |

MC GOES SPANISH??
It's rumred that a Spanish translation is in the works of Mariah's song "After Tonight", taken from the "Rainbow" album. I think this song would sound very godd in Spanish. The song already has a Spanish vibe to it, don't you think?? If my Spanish is correct, "After Tonight" in Spanish would be "después esta noche"!! (USELESS INFO, HUH???) |

MC/CHRISTINA "CATFIGHT" RUMOR UPDATE!
After Divas 2000 there were rumours that Mariah prevented that Christina Aguilera would also be on the show. This is not true. Mariah was on Z100 and she told us that this was just a rumour and that the reason Christina was on Men Strike Back was because she was asked to because they wanted more men to watch the show and thought Christina would help that happen. Z100 also said that no one should buy Alison's book. But in my opinion, I don't think there is such a book! Neither do the people on the US show "The View" they called Alison a rotten snitch!! But anyway....... |

ARTICLES OF THE DAY!
Here are today's articles, which as always, are seprated by stars (***) ********************************************************* ![]() Grammy-Award winning producer Jimmy Jam took time out from some high-profile projects to catch the birth of two new bundles of joy. Jam's wife Lisa Harris gave birth on Thursday to healthy boy and girl twins Maximillian Lee and Isabella B, who weighed in at 7 lbs. and 6 lbs. 2 oz., respectively. This is the second birth for the Harris family, who already have a three-year-old son named Tyler. Meanwhile, Jam and his Flyte Time Productions partner Terry Lewis are currently enjoying success with Mariah Carey's single, "Thank God I Found You," which they wrote and produced. The duo is currently in the studio collaborating with Carey and executive producing the soundtrack to her upcoming movie, "All That Glitters." Jam and Lewis are also working on material for Janet Jackson's next album, as well as a Janet song to be included on the soundtrack to the "Nutty Professor" sequel, in which Janet will co-star. Other current projects for Jam and Lewis include writing and collaborating with Babyface for his upcoming album and producing several songs for Patti Labelle's forthcoming album. Over the past twenty years, Jam and Lewis have written and produced over 100 singles and albums that have reached gold, platinum and multi-platinum sales status for some of the biggest names in music. Collaborators have included Janet Jackson, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Mary J. Blige, Patti Labelle, and Boyz II Men. C'MON.....
Thanks to PORTER for bringing this up......Many people have been getting concerned that the "Rainbow" Tour video recorded in Canada will be bad because they have read the following review: Hey Guys! I went to the Toronto concert last night and had the best time ever! I love Mariah! She is so amazing but the concert also kinda dissapointed me because of her voice. She nailed Emotions, My All, Always Be My Baby, X-Girlfriend and Crybaby. The problem was Mariah didn't do any high notes (like the "won't you please. pleeease" in Dreamlover, I am not talking about the kinda high notes she does in emotions) and she couldn't hold some notes (like "all that you turned out to...BE" in Vision of Love or "To be able to feel this WAY" in Thank God I Found You) Instead she did this repetitive thing with the long notes. Her voice was also lower then it is on her albums and she lip synched higher parts like on: * Fantasy * Heartbreaker * Dreamlover (the PLEASE) * Against All Odds (I am not sure if she lip synched this) * Can't Take That Away (The part she always lip synchs) * Honey I am really starting to worry about Mariah's voice. Is this a perminet thing? or does she need some rest or does she need to take care of herself? How was her voice at other concerts? any lip synching on hard parts? Please write back...If I came off as a hater I'm sorry. I am not. I love Mariah but I am a little worried about her. I hope you understand *RyAn* Okay, let me just set this person straight! I think your a Mariah hater or something because Mariah did NOT lip synch at the Ontario venue nor at any other! I don't really know what your problem is because it's so funny that every other review says she sounded EXCELLENT and just like the album. So....um, just get your stuff right, k? I'm not trying to be rude...just saying the truth! K? Anyhoe........ |

ARTICLES O' THE DAY!
Here are todays articles, which are separated by stars (****) ******************************************************** ![]() It's been said in the past that pop music's uber-diva Mariah Carey doesn't like to tour due to stage nerves. But that certainly wasn't the case last night at the Air Canada Centre where the seven-octave singer finally made her Toronto performing debut with a relaxed and rambling 2 1/2-hour show. In fact, it was Carey's first-ever Canadian concert despite a staggeringly successful previous decade of No. 1 hits too numerous to mention and album sales of 125 million worldwide. The sold-out crowd of 17,000 screaming, sign-waving fans were obviously jazzed about finally getting to see her in a live setting, which -- incidentally -- was being taped for an upcoming TV special. Also adding to the drama was the fact that the 30-year-old performer had earlier postponed her April 7 concert here due to a case of food poisoning and dehydration. Bad raw oysters in Atlanta were to blame. "What's up Toronto? I finally made it," said Carey, initially dressed in a skimpy, silver halter top, hip-hugging jeans and silver high-heeled sandals, before making enough costume changes to make even Cher jealous. Carey's entrance was preceded by a way-too-long video skit in which she fought off her "evil twin" -- the black-haired Bianca -- while several stars, ranging from Aretha Franklin to Barney, made testimonials about their supposed rivalry. ![]() Trust me, that's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of play-acting. Carey also stopped repeatedly to sip tea, have her face attended to by makeup artist "Chris," who appeared in drag during the beauty contest skit, and was downright chatty and indulgent with fans. In fact, she invited several concert-goers -- one carrying a sign that said: "No more oysters! Stay diva-licious!" -- on stage with her. And she rewarded all of the young fans, even one from Ottawa whose introduction brought a chorus of boos given the current hockey playoffs with the Leafs, with champagne and chocolate. It turned out the Toronto concert was the last on Carey's month-long tour in support of her latest album, Rainbow, and her first North American jaunt in seven years. She told the crowd she was feeling down about the road trip coming to an end. "I'm kind of sad,"she said. "I've gone through a lot of emotions 'cause you know I don't tour a lot." The good news for local Carey-lovers is that the singer is scheduled to begin filming the often-made A Star Is Born in Toronto later this summer. In the meantime, they'll have memories of her often-thrilling voice as she hit the high notes during such guilty pleasures as Emotions and Vision Of Love. Some audience members may have something even more tangible, given Carey threw many of her costumes and set pieces into the audience as the concert wound down. "This is the last show of the tour," she said. "Everything must go! Alright, I'm losing my mind." WHAT THEY PLAYED: Emotions My All Always Be My Baby Heartbreaker Dreamlover X-Girlfriend Against All Odds Thank God I Found You/ Make It Last Fantasy Crybaby Close My Eyes Petals Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme) Honey ENCORES: Vision Of Love Rainbow Interlude Hero Butterfly 'Carey-ed away!' Sun Rating: 4 out of 5 (TAKEN FROM: JAM! Music / Toronto Sun) *********************************************** ![]() Mariah Carey posed and pranced across the stage, determined to make sure her fans enjoyed themselves. It took forever and 11 days and 15 minutes for Mariah Carey to make her Toronto debut, but once the pop superstar took the stage at the Air Canada Centre, it seemed as if she would never leave. Last night's performance, the final stop in the New York native's worldwide Rainbow Tour, was a meandering, 2½-hour indulgence. And the 17,000 fans at the sold-out show stuck with her through it all: every sappy appreciation of them, each giggle, all eight costume changes and every tinkle of the glass-shattering money notes that made her famous. Slightly hoarse at times, but none the worse for the food poisoning (referred to as "a little scheduling problem") that postponed her appearance earlier this month, Carey, 30, demonstrated why she has sold more than 128 million records worldwide. First, there are the songs - 14 No. 1 singles, more than any other female artist, and she's had a hand in writing and producing most of them. She enthralled the crowd with some of her most engaging ballads, including "Always Be My Baby," from "Dreamlover," and "Close My Eyes." And she had them on their feet for the danceable uptempo tunes like "Emotion," "Heartbreaker," and the 1995 hit "Fantasy," on which she fused her hiphop relations with an appearance by Old Dirty Bastard. Then there's that sugary sweet image that defies belief. While other pop divas have come under fire for poor attitudes, choice of mates and drug allegations, Carey continues to hover above the fray. Yet she delights in poking fun at her Cinderella image. The show included a face-off with her British, raven-haired alter ego Bianca, who first appeared in the video for "Heartbreaker," from her ninth album of the same name. Of course, you know who won, but the audience was genuinely entertained by the potentially cheesy skit. Opening act Da Brat, whose own segment was lazy and disjointed, came out to deliver a funky, crowd pleasing rap during the tune, cementing the notion that her foul-mouth is best in small doses. Less impressive was the beauty pageant routine for which Carey came out in tiara and fuschia evening gown, playing up her princess image. Backed by a five-piece band, she posed and pranced across the stage - Carey doesn't really dance, given the ever-present stilletos - seeming to enjoy herself and determined to make sure her fans did as well. "My whole purpose and point with this tour is to have fun and make sure my fans have a good time," she said. At one point she invited more than a dozen of them on stage to share champagne and choclate kisses. She tossed out stuffed animals and parts of her wardrobe, noting the tour is over and she doesn't need them anymore. The show was recorded for a TV special. (TAKEN FROM: The Toronto Star) ********************************************* Making baby love "English Patient" star Kristin Scott Thomas, who's married to Francois Oliviennes, is expecting her third child. But reps for Mariah Carey and Trisha Yearwood say that, despite Carey's recent nausea and Yearwood's new plumpness, neither singer is headed for the maternity ward. (EXCERPT TAKEN FROM: The New York Daily News) ********************************************* ![]() The issues on Miss Carey's kit's off and alleged plastic surgeries are certainly nothing new to the music industry ever since her split from former husband and Sony Music's Tommy Mottola. Eyebrows were raised and criticism was thrown from left right center about the disgrace she bought to the female kind and sadly enough these are normally the words from her own clan. It is understood that men has nothing much to complain but hearing all stabbing type words coming out from the ladies then it considered something rather unjust to Mariah and also to the women themselves. If jealousy is the issue then things are easily seen as Miss Carey's unique 8 octaves voice and great talent is not something than one can deny despite the skimpy clothes. Public proved their disapproval and approval of her by making her the best selling female artist alone in America recently when she received her 15th number one hit, "Thank God I found you". In Japan, she has the long record of having the bestseller album "#1's", breaking Whitney Houston's previous record and in this land of sambal petai and coconut tree, we saw for ourselves that her albums sell more than the hottest pisang goreng around. Analyzing the problems surrounding the hate, most of it boils down to the fact that she's a woman. If a male artist were to display his assets carelessly, he'll be known as a hot and desirable person. How about the argument on the lesser talented boy bands? They bopped and made horrible noises but no one seems to give a damn about how annoying they are especially when they are just nice to look at? Fair enough as normally all girls will be the first to gorged over them and no form of insult will ever be thrown. It's no a wonder when during an interview with any successful female artist, ranging from Whitney Houston to Lauryn Hill, they will be highlight the fact that music industry is much a male dominated arena and how hard it was to get support even from their own gender. People might be nice enough to call you or whoever female artist a diva but then again it just comes down to plain bitch. Michael Jackson does it and if Mariah Carey did have any form of facial enhancement it's rather unjust to point fingers to her, as I believe the public only wants the best and beautiful thing. Please send an email of names of any artist that you know that never care about image and looking good to me. Even if they don't, I'm sure they are beautiful enough not to do so. I believe it's a cruel world full of competition from other heavyweights, as music industry is not just about singing so any form of image change or just being different is an added bonus to the fans rather being and looking the same for 10 albums. So the next time you listen to any songs that you don't really fancy because of the artist and image, please reconsider, it's hard work enough to do a recording and extra hard to produce chart topping hits unless they have the talent. I'm trying hard to like boy bands despite of myself so ladies - please be nice to your sisters. Sisters are doin' it for themselves? I don't think so! ARTILCES!
YOU NOW IT......ARTICLES SEPARATED BY STARS (******) *************************************************** ![]() Ed Burns, Mariah Carey, and Ben Stiller may want to reconsider their impending moves into trendy Tribeca. The historically quiet downtown neighborhood is suffering some serious noise pollution. The cacophony culprits seem to be located in the old Western Union Building on Hudson Street. The structure houses power generators for giant telecommunications companies like MCI, Sprint, Worldcom, and Time Warner. The noise has gotten so bad, a group of protesters led by Eric ("Talk Radio") Bogosian and City Councilwoman Kathryn E. Freed demonstrated the other day in front of the deco tower. Tribeca inhabitants such as Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, and MTV's Tom Freston have been awakened at 3 a.m. and weekend mornings to the sound of dilapidated generators. Bogosian told PAGE SIX's Ali Marcus, "Imagine an 18-wheeler being hoisted outside your window." He fears it'll be worse this summer, when air-conditioning units kick in and the roar will be like "a squadron taking off from an aircraft carrier." So far, none of the companies have done a thing to control the clamor. (TAKEN FROM: The New York Post) ***************************************************** ![]()

MARIAH ASKS FOR YOUR HELP
As you all know, Mariah's shows haven't been getting the best reviews from the papers. Unfortunately, Mariah saw a few from the New York show. If you happened to have seen the one in the New York Post, or the New York Daily News, they are quite mean, these two especially. Mariah gave IMCO a call letting us know that she saw them and asking if there was anything we could do. I think it would be great if we all write letters to these papers and give them our two cents. Just saying how the fans loved the show and all of that good stuff. Flood their e-mail boxes with letters, show them who's boss:) Try to stay away from profanity and what not, but be firm. Here's the info: Dan Aquilante of the New York Post You can e-mail him at daquilante@nypost.com if that doesn't work, try letters@nypost.com If you want, their snail mail address is: 1211 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10036-8790 And their phone number is 212-930-8000 Jim Farber of NY Daily News You can e-mail him at jfarber@edit.nydailynews.com And their phone number is 212-210-2100 [Thanks to Bree from The International Mariah Carey Organization] I've also encouraged you to complain about bad reviews, but for some reason, many of you didn't like that. But this time it's Mariah who wants you to react, so please let these guys know if you do not agree with their reviews! |

MARIAH SIGHTING
A brief postshow Mariah Carey sighting: The octave-jumping diva and several of her backup dancers checked out the Comedy Connection's Backstage nightspot after her Thursday show at the FleetCenter. Carey stayed only long enough to say hello to a few pals and down a glass of soda water, but her pals stayed till closing time, dancing the night away and no doubt embarrassing mere mortals who are not quite so gifted in the footwork department. ARTICLE (ONLY ONE) O' THE DAY!
Ain't it a shocker??? I only have one article for you today kiddies! Sorry but here it is!! ****************************************** Carey Nation treated to a weird concert Mariah Carey at the FleetCenter, Boston, last night. It's been a strange month for superstar Mariah Carey, so it figures most of her two-hour-plus FleetCenter concert was very weird, likely the oddest the venue will see for a while. Carey ate bad oysters in Atlanta and suffered food poisoning that landed her in Mass. General. She postponed her original April 4 Boston show because of it. This week, she sang Supremes songs with Diana Ross in another Diva special for VH1. But all that isn't nearly as loony as her current show. Stuffed with more padding than a Wonderbra, at the one hour mark, it was only seven songs old. That's because it began with an endless cartoon/video bit introducing us to Carey's evil alter ego Bianca. Then there were the MTV contest winners to bring on stage. Then there was the boxing match between Mariah and ``Bianca.'' Guess who won? Then there was a beauty pageant sketch with Carey singing in gown (one of six outfit changes before the encores) and tiara. Who is advising this woman and what are they telling her? Her career is in the stratosphere. Money and concepts are no barriers, and she crams the show with corny, truly muddled bits like Bad Mariah/Good Mariah and catfighting beauty queens? Anyone who saw her previous (and first) show in this area at the Centrum knows she can knock people flat just by doing the songs, which is what made all this other mishmash so frustrating. The local chapter of Carey Nation, her diehard fans, loved it all but more casual followers found it bizarre, very bizarre. Thankfully, the final third of the show was quality stuff. Her upper range was shot, but it only made her work more effectively with what she had. (TAKEN FROM: The Boston Herald) |

ARTICLES O' THE DAY!
Basically today, there is no news so I'l just supply you with some good ole' articles! If you've been if before...you know the ordeal but for new visitors...articles are separated by stars (**) ******************************************** Acting out childlike star fantasies You could blame it on her evil alter-ego, Bianca. Or you could blame it on the oysters. Or you could blame it on the star-making machinery that, while catapulting her to the top of the charts, indulged her escape into a fantasy world as weird as Michael Jackson's Neverland. However you explain it, Mariah Carey's sold-out show Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden had very little to do with music and much to do with acting like a superstar -- acting the way a little girl plays dress-up, not like a 30-year-old pro who is the best-selling female recording artist of the past decade. Parading in six-inch heels and one scanty, bosom-and-buttocks-revealing outfit after another, Carey went from pert sailor to satin-pajama princess to beauty pageant queen. She flounced. She giggled. She introduced her makeup artist (he's Christopher, a cross-dresser from Hicksville). She tossed stuffed animals and chocolate kisses to the crowd and prattled on about how she travels so much that "I live out of suitcases, which is kind of interesting." She also sat forlornly onstage with a child's blanket, cuddling a giant teddy bear. Her mannerisms created the eerie voyeuristic sensation that we got from those video clips of Jon-Benet Ramsey provocatively dressed at her beauty contests. Except instead of a child-woman, this was a woman-child. During Carey's frequent exits to change outfits, listeners were fed videos of celebrities from Snoop Dogg to Aretha Franklin to Barney gushing about Carey's warmth and sweetness -- just in case that image hadn't already been sufficiently rammed down their throats. Incidentally, there was some music -- perhaps for half the set the Huntington-raised Carey actually emitted some of her fabulous, octave-leaping swoops and slides. Backed by four singers and a five-piece band, she ran through syrupy hits including the upbeat "Emotion," the gushing "Thank God I Found You," the come-on "Honey" and the hip-hop flavored "Heartbreaker" (complete with cameos from Da Brat and Missy Elliott). Young females clearly relate to her lyrics, which alternate between love fantasies, pep talks -- "when you feel that hope is gone/look inside you and be strong" -- and tales of personal woe. Carey sounded heartfelt on "Petals," a teary, autobiographical ballad whose accounts of being used by the music industry and having a miserable relationship with a patriarch (presumably her ex-husband, Sony's U.S. president, Tommy Mottola) may explain her childlike behavior. Marketing may explain her behavior, too. Carey is a studio artist, not a live performer. By padding her show with juvenile fantasies, producers not only make it easier for her to get through a two-hour set, they also draw in ever-younger, more malleable listeners. Based on the number of pre-teens in the audience, Carey is clearly going head-to-head with the Britney Spears and Christina Aguileras of the pop world. It was impossible to know where Carey's imagination ended and marketing began. "Maybe I grew up a little too soon," she sang. Maybe she hasn't grown up at all. [TAKEN FROM: Newsday] ************************************************* Sappiness is a Carey concert Mariah Carey enjoys being a girl — preferably one younger than 15. At her Madison Square Garden show Tuesday night, the star sang one song while nuzzling a giant stuffed bear. She delivered another in her pajamas, clutching a heart-shaped pillow, while a third saw her realizing a young girl's dream of winning a beauty contest. To involve the crowd further, Carey gleefully tossed out toy animals and chocolate kisses, and displayed videos of herself riding a horse and playing on a swing. When one of her shoes fell off during a number, she exclaimed, "Cinderella!" No wonder the evening sometimes seemed less like a concert than like the world's biggest slumber party. Then again, one of Carey's biggest draws has always been to immerse her fans in a girly world of dreams. Many of the songs she performed Tuesday found her singing about lovers that exist only in your head, or about sights as fanciful as rainbows and butterflies. Compared to this, Britney Spears provides an unflinching view of the depths of human suffering. Carey's pink vision of life helps explain the preponderance of very young girls at the show. For the price of a ticket, they got to see a far more theatrical evening than Carey's only other full-scale road show, which took place seven long years ago. Elaborately silly skits connected the songs, aiming — without success — at camp. Carey did show some awareness of her hyper-feminine image and so tried to toughen things up a bit — although in a disconnected way. She opened the show with a voiceover and some prepared video pieces detailing a character named Bianca — which was Carey in a black wig, providing her with a bitchy and cartoonish alter ego. Musically, Carey tried to add an edge, and a cynical relevance, by putting more hip-hop effects into her songs. She offered guest appearances from Da Brat and Missy Elliott, along with some token scratching. But it turned out to be mostly window dressing over what remains faceless R&B and pure pop schmaltz. Her lyrics offer such an idealized view of love that even Hallmark might reject them as too sappy. Carey also played to fantasies in her singing. She never failed to hit 15 notes when one would have done just fine. It's the athletic quality of her singing that seems to concern her most — the range, not the feeling. In song after song, she offered daring vocal feats, treating a phrase like a javelin, to be judged by how far it can be thrown. Accordingly, Carey indulged that dog whistle of hers more than ever. It's a sound geared to impress rather than to involve, eschewing real emotion in favor of a show. [Source: The New York Daily News. By Jim Farber.] *********************************** Mariah spotlights dangers of dehydration Mariah Carey's career may be hotter than ever, but she was feeling the heat for a different reason last week. Carey checked in to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment for dehydration that was apparently the result of food poisoning from a batch of bad oysters. She was released last Wednesday night. "Mariah's very grateful. She received excellent care and is feeling great," reports Cindi Berger, Carey's publicist. While Carey's hospitalization only temporarily halted the stunning singer's Rainbow tour, the effects of this serious condition can put a permanent halt to life itself. Luckily for Carey, she received prompt medical attention long before her dehydration became life-threatening. Nevertheless, fans in Boston and Toronto were concerned when her shows were canceled. "I know my daughter Alexa was disappointed," shares Walls. "She had tickets and didn't get to go. We all hope Ms. Carey is feeling better." Alexa, as well as the rest of Carey's fans who have consumed 120 million records to date, may get her chance sooner than she thinks. Carey was in fiery form last Sunday in New York at VH-1's Divas 2000 taping, and her sold-out Rainbow tour resumed last night at Madison Square Garden. Her shows in Boston and Toronto will be rescheduled soon. [TAKEN FROM: USA Today] |

ARTICLES O' THE DAY!
You know......they are separated by stars (**********) ****************************************** MARIAH THE HIGHLIGHT OF DIVAS 2000 Yesterday we all could see Mariah at VH1's "Divas 2000: A tribute to Diana Ross". Mariah opened the show with "Love Hangover", but the highlight was her dueting with Diana Ross on "Baby Love" and "Stop In the Name of Love." The matching outfits were breath-taking and supplied by Mariah. She gave the silver dress to Ross and kept the gold dress for herself. After the songs Mariah said: "Whoever thought I'd be lending the world's biggest diva a dress?" Later, Mariah sang her new single, "Can't Take That Away", and dropped to her knees for its final verse. The show ended with all divas singing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Mariah Faith Hill, Donna Summer, Diana Ross and host Hilary Swank each received a gift basket worth about $20,000. Included were an Aaron Basha Briolette diamond necklace, a Bedet & Co. diamond watch, a Motorola cell phone, Tattinger Champagne and a monogrammed bathrobe from Jane Scott Hodges. ************************************************** Brat praises Mariah tour, may tour with Jay-Z Da Brat's long-awaited third album, "Unrestricted," hit stores on Tuesday. The Chicago-bred rapper is also wrapping up her opening slot on Mariah Carey's current tour. Although the outing was brief (9 dates, to be exact), she told the MTV Radio Network that it was the perfect way to give her new music some early exposure. "That's great," Brat told the MTV Radio Network. "It's great bein' on tour with Mariah, just because it's like, sold-out audiences and it's packed from the ceiling to the floor. And when the crowd screams my name, it's just like, exuberating, or something. It's like, my whole body fills up and my adrenaline pumps very, very hard." Last night was the final scheduled date on Mariah's tour, although Brat will also accompany Ms. Carey on the two make-up dates that were re-scheduled due to Mariah's illness; the Boston show on April 13 at the FleetCenter and an April 18 stop at Toronto's Air Canada Center. Brat says she would like to hit the road with Mariah again if the pop diva decides to schedule more dates, but she also has some other possibilities cooking. "We're working on a tour, maybe," Brat began, "with me, Jagged Edge, Jay-Z, and Beanie Sigel. Like maybe a Roc-A-Fella/So So Def Tour. There are a whole lot of things and there are a whole lot of opportunities that I have knockin' on the door. So I'm just tryin' to see what'll be the best thing to do." Meanwhile, "Unrestricted" is in stores now and features collaborations with Ja Rule, Twista, Kelly Price, Mystikal, Jermaine Dupri, and Tyrese, who guests on the LP's first single, "What Chu Like." On a legal note, Da Brat is scheduled to appear in an Atlanta court tomorrow to answer assault charges stemming from a March 8 altercation at an Atlanta nightclub. [TAKEN FROM: MTV News] ******************************************************** Someday they'll be together She's a disco diva, not a Supreme. Donna Summer chose not to perform a Supremes medley with Diana Ross and Mariah Carey at the VH1 "divas" concert at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. A deal had been set for Summer and Carey to be honorary Supremes who would back Ross on the songs "Stop! In the Name of Love" and "Baby Love." Without Summer, Ross and Carey decided to wing it. Carey, who had come to the event with a number of costumes, including matching gold and silver Pamela Dennis outfits, gave the silver one to Ross and kept the gold dress for herself. After the two songs, Carey was overheard to say, "Whoever thought I'd be lending the world's biggest diva a dress?" [Source: The New York Daily News] ***************************************************** DIANA ROSS TRIBUTE DOGGED BY GLITCHES, RETAKES If it did nothing else, the concert staged to create VH1's "Divas 2000" served as a testimonial to the power of live television - used for the far-superior 1999 edition of the series. With the safety net of tape delay at the ready, this year's participants took the "D" word to a new level, engaging in enough set changes and retakes to push the event past the 4½-hour mark - no doubt sending editors into overdrive to glean two hours of usable material. The program started promisingly enough, thanks to a fiery performance from Mariah Carey. With her high register dulled somewhat by her recent hospitalization, Carey was forced to sing from the gut, which brought a nicely gritty edge to her vocals. Faith Hill, who followed, gnashed through a scenery-chewing "Love Child" as part of a miniset that confused hysteria with soul - and costume changes with personality. Donna Summer, however, struck a fine balance between sexiness and sincerity: She stood out as the only performer who didn't lose momentum between set changes, maintaining the same heat on her own "Bad Girls" as on a cover of "Reflections." After mildly diverting cameos by RuPaul (who strutted through - what else? - "I'm Coming Out") and Destiny's Child, Ross finally took the stage to thank the assembled throng for their applause. Had she merely left after taking a bow, she would have been ahead of the game. What followed was an uneven, often baffling performance - punctuated with technical glitches that forced the honored guest to repeat each of her four songs at least twice. While she turned in a stellar reading of "Touch Me in the Morning" the second time around, Ross too often stretched for notes that remained out of reach and rambled through several ad-libbed speeches that prompted much head scratching. After a lengthy pause, Ross returned to the stage flanked by her newly assembled set of Supremes, who seemed to fire her up for strong, sassy versions of "Itchin' in My Heart" and "You Keep Me Hangin' On." The latter title seemed especially appropriate after another endless delay gave way to a flub-filled duet in which divas Ross and Carey stumbled through "Baby Love" and "Stop in the Name of Love." If the filmed version of the concert plays remotely well on VH1 tonight, the phrase "the miracle of television" will take on new meaning. (TAKEN FROM: AOL News) *************************************************** ************************************************** |
