Rev. Carol Trissell received her undergraduate education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. UFMCC History

Rev. Trissell joined Joy MCC in Orlando, Florida in 1995 as Assistant to the Pastor. She was ordained through UFMCC in 1997, became associate pastor, and then senior pastor at Joy MCC in 1998. During her tenure there the church has grown substantially. Membership grew from less than 400 to over 600. A $500,000 capital campaign was begun in 2001. In July 2003 a $1.2 million first mortgage bond issue sale was completed to finance construction of an 11,000 square foot sanctuary, chapel, office suite, and children’s ministry suite. Rev. Carol became a supervising clergy for UFMCC in 2000. At Joy MCC she supervises a staff of 4 and the church has 17 ministry teams. You can learn more about what else is going on at Joy MCC, and listen to Rev. Trissell’s recent sermons at their web site at www.joymcc.com .

Trissell managed Baptist Book Stores in North Carolina for two years, and previously had worked at other Baptist Book Stores as Assistant Manager and Financial Secretary. She has also held positions at other businesses as Vice President of Accounting, unit leader and site director for the YMCA, faculty secretary (while in seminary), and office manager for five years. Also, she has been a certified public accountant since 1984.

Personal Information

Ministry Style

Spiritual Gifts:

Preaching, teaching, administration and leadership

Leadership Style:

Spiritually and biblically based, decisive, consensus building, visionary, accountable, willing to take risks, flexible, adaptable, focused on the big picture.

Summary of her Values:

The mission and vision of the church, a community of faith, following policies and procedures, open and honest communication, empowering and mentoring others, team-based ministry, accountability, diversity, committing to a relationship of love and appreciation, having the church be visible in the community

Worship Style:

At Joy MCC there are four services with four different styles and Rev. Trissell likes them all. Her preaching style is biblically-based, relevant to daily life, extemporaneous (no notes), personal, challenging, open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and interjected with humor. She likes and has led both formal and informal worship services.

Scriptural Basis:

Luke 4:18- the passage where Jesus is in the synagogue in his home town, and says, “the spirit of the Lord is upon me and has anointed me to… preach the good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom to the captives and that the blind will see, to release the oppressed, and to proclaim the year of God’s good favor.”

Her Passion:

“Seeing people grow, watching people change and be

transformed by the love of Christ- to be a part of that is a privilege, it is inspiring to me.”

*Rev. Trissell’s Resumé and ‘Statement of Faith’ may be picked up in the sanctuary or from the church office.
