John M's R1b Blog
Information about R1b Y chromosome haplogroup
Entry for October 28, 2006
The R and R1a SNP tables have been updated

www.geocities.com/mcewanjc

The R table now has 355 entries and has had 28 changes and updates. These include new R1b1c6, 7, 9, and 10 entries.

The R1 table now has 23 entries and one new update.

Other updates

The R literature summary has been updated

www.geocities.com/mcewanjc/r1bsummary.htm

I have also updated the pages of notes on M37, M65, M126, M153, M160, P25, S28 and the R1b results summary as questions on these SNPs are often asked.

As an aside the bias in reporting continues to grow, I am interested in negative results aka R1b1c* especially those where S21 and S28 have also tested negative.

If you have any new SNP results or updates please e-mail me with the SNP values plus your YsearchID and also your FTDNA kit number if you have one.

John, my 67 markers are at ftdna D1140, where you will find that I am R1b1c* with c1 through c8 negative. I have traced my family back to Bury in Lancashire at Domesday (1086) and believe that the distinctive marker is DYS392=15, placing me in haplotype 1 with that marker on the Border Reiver website. I wonder where I might fit in your STR typology. I did put my records on ysearch via the ftdna option.

John,

I have an Oxford Ancestors 10 marker Y DNA test result.

Our family come from Mayo, but originated from Inishowen, Donegal in the early 1600's.

My result is quite unusual on 2 markers

DYS 393 14 and DYS 390 23

The other markers are very common

19 14
388 12
391 11
392 13
389i 10 (13)
389ii 16 (29)
425 12
426 12

It has been suggested that the dys 390 = 23 may be indicative of S21+ve.

The marker that appears to be very rare is the 393=14, although I have seen matches in Ulster, Scotland (including) Shetland and England.

Regards

Tony
