McGill University

Most of the buildings on campus were named after the people who paid to have them build or who were associated with the university in some way.

The University Centre, the place for students to hang out, is known as "The University Centre" to McGill officials. However, following a campus referendum a few years back, it was renamed "The Shatner Building" after William Shatner who attended McGill for a while. However since Captin Kirk is not dead and didn't contribute the money to build the building, the university won't officially rename it after him. So, for the students it's Shatner, for the officials it's The University Centre.
