Sedona History

This page will evolve over time.

Sedona was founded as Netpoint Corporation in October 1998 by Joseph Elchakieh, Sami Aly, Rob Brown and Terry Skemer.

By March of 1999 they were hiring at full speed and the engineering team started to flesh out and first round financing ($US 6M) showed up in April (to much jubilation!).

Shortly thereafter the company moved to 10-A Hearst Way and was renamed to Sedona Networks due to a trademark conflict with Sprint in the US.  Why Sedona?  Sedona is a spiritual community in the desert in Arizona and the rumour is that the VP Marketing was at Home Depot and liked the colour (approximately the colour of the background of this page)!

After a year of hard work and growth, the company received a second round of financing ($US 22M) and moved from 10-A Hearst Way (bursting at the seams with coops camped on the loading bay ramp) to 308 Leggitt where it stood until it was shutdown on March 31st.
