Chorus Join, Blairentians, join the chorus, Let it sound both loud and long, ‘’Blairs for ever,’’ that’s our motto’ ‘’Blairs for ever,’’ that’s our song. 1.Here it was we first found shelter From the world and all its cares, Joys of home, how sweet so ever, Can’t compare with those of Blairs. Chorus 2.Here we live in peace and concord, Happy all the live-long day, Work and play so nicely blended Make our spirits bright and gay Chorus 3.Where’er our fate hereafter calls us Rome or Glasgow, France or Spain; The memory of our Alma Mater Shall ever in our hearts remain. Chorus 4.Hark, from nigh the Eternal City Scottish lips their praise proclaim; The Eternal Hills ‘’Old Blairs’’ re-echo Let’s re-echo back again. Chorus |
5.And from nigh St Mungo’s city Swells the chorus, deep and strong, Rung out clear in loyal affection ‘’Blairs for ever,’’ that’s their song. Chorus 6.What gladdening news cross Channel waters Borne on gentle zephyr’s wings; ‘’Good old Blairs,’’ sounds from all quarters, That’s the song the Frenchman sings. Chorus 7.Lo, they come, the noble Spaniards, Hark! Their voices fill the air, The song they sing is ‘’Blairs for ever,’’ Shows that true hearts still are there. Chorus 8.Yes, old Blairs, thy sweet remembrance Makes thy sons’ hearts beat for thee; Blairentian is a name of honour, It our boast shall ever be. Chorus 9.Come then, boys, sound long the chorus Free from thoughts of anxious cares, We vow to stand as those before us, Ever true to good old Blairs. Chorus |
Blairentian Chorus |
Well, here it is - at least the version that was current in the 1950s and '60s. Apparently there was an older version. Does anyone have the words of that? Did it change again in later years?? Did you know it had so many verses??? Did we ever sing them all???? If, for some reason, you should wish to have your very own copy of this masterpiece (sorry, it is a classic) follow the instructions at the foot of the page. |
Get Your Own Copy! Make sure you're alone, and start singing! |
