907 Main Street (The Masonic Temple)
The Masonic Temple was built during the years of 1912 and 1913, in order to house the Masonic Order,
which had been active in Miles
City since the 1880's. It was designed by well known Miles City architect Brynjulf Rivenes.
The building itself is divided into areas;
with the ground level used for businesses, while the upper level was (and is) reserved for the Masons.
A variety of businesses have filled the ground floor, including Plimpton's funeral parlor, which
had its embalming suite in the basement. H.C. Plimpton's wife also had a millinery shop, where she
created and sold hats. In later years, it was the site of a jeweler's. In the 1990's, the
ground floor became the site of the Miles City Historic Preservation Office, and Miles City
Books and News.
