The Woman in White

By: A., as told to the Webmaster

Over the years, various sightings have been made in the basement of the Montana Theater by the employees. One of the most interesting concerns the Lady in White, who has been seen in the basement.

A. worked at the Theater during his high school years. In the spring of 2005, he was working behind the snack counter, when he needed to go to the basement to get more candy. He wasn't thrilled by this, as the basement was very creepy. The second door on the left is one most employees avoid if possible. Nevertheless, A. went downstairs and into the storage room, which was the first door to the left. He was putting candy into a box to carry upstairs, when he heard a rustling sound, as though from heavy fabric. "I keyed in on the sound," he said. "That sound made it realistic." He didn't hear footsteps, however.

Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw movement, and looked over to see a girl walking past the store room doorway. She was blond, wearing her hair down, in a long white dress with a short train. A. realized that it was the train making the rustling sound. Interestingly, he didn't see the girl's arms.

Not looking at him, the girl proceeded past the door. Going to the doorway, A. looked both ways down the hallway, but saw no one. Back upstairs, he told a co-worker what he'd seen. The co-worker said he'd seen the same thing in the same place, about two weeks earlier.

A. left the Theater after a few months. He never saw the Woman in White again.
