Archibald McKEE - (Ca.1802 - 1835)

ARCHIBALD McKEE was one of the three Jefferson County McKEE households enumerated on the 1830 census.  He appears on page 114, three pages after his father (MICHAEL Sr) and seven pages before his uncle (WILLIAM SETH).  ARCHIBALD and his wife were both listed as aged 20-30 and they had one child, a son under age 5.  In the Andrew Locan McKee family bible the entry for Archibald's death appears just below the entries for Margrit and Michel McKee:

                        Archibald (smudged) McKee

                        Died Archibald McKee (sic)

                        August the 27, 1835

Although there is no estate record for him, a land record (Book D, Page 137) establishes that ARCHIBALD died during or prior to 1837:

MICHAEL McKEE             )

MARTHA ANN McKEE          )

SOPHIA CHARLOTTE McKEE    )        to MICHAEL McKEE and wife

MARGARET ELIZA McKEE      )

Children and heirs of ARCHIBALD McKEE and MARTHA, his wife

The property involved was on Dry Creek (South 1/2 of the East 1/2 of NW Section 23, Twp.40, Range 3 East)  Dry Creek is just about a mile south of the cemetery at Ware, MO.  I do not know whether the "MICHAEL McKEE and wife" to whom the property was transferred was "Grandpa MICHAEL" (Sr.) or "Uncle MICHAEL" (Jr.)

We can only speculate as to whether accident or illness took the life of ARCHIBALD while he was yet in his early 30s but it left the four young children without a father.  On 20 May 1838, ARCHIBALD's younger brother, ADAM HARVEY, married MARTHA and raised his nephew/nieces as stepchildren

ARCHIBALD's MICHAEL was listed on the 1850 census heading Household
