ELEAZER
McKEE s/o
Adam & Jean (Dixon) McKee (dates = ?)
The Doughtie book states that Eleazer McKee is buried at the Greenville Church Cemetery but church historian Howard Nickles could find no record of this (paper or stone). We find that he was listed on the 1810 census record.six pages before "Jane" and her sons Adam Jr & "Mical"

An ELEAZER McKEE who served in the Revolution was supposed to have been born ca.1765. According to Revolutionary War Claim File R6578 (quoted in The MACKEYs and Allied Families) he was born in SC and lived to be at least age 80. During 1779, he enlisted as a bugler (which is consistent with having been born during the mid-1760s), having gone east to Charlestown to enlist. His surname was given (at least in the book) as McKA/McKAY/McKEE so presumably he was not literate. During 1780 he was back in "Old 96", serving under Col. Andrew PICKENS. Next he was sent south where he was wounded in the Battle of Eutaw Springs (15-20 miles NE of Charleston?). Later serving under Capt. WILLIAM McKA, (there are four WILLIAMs identified as Revolutionary veterans, with one shown as a Captain serving with John JENKINS Company of volunteers, but another who received & sold a land grant on the Saluda River of "Old 96"). ELIEZER also served in the Battle of Kettle Creek.
Lack of mention of him in ADAM Jr's estate file (while brothers JOHN & MICHAEL were there for the sale) suggests that he may have moved away. I can neither confirm nor deny the book stating "ELIEZER McKEE is buried in the Greenville Presbyterian Churchyard. Abbeville Co. S.C." Suggesting otherwise are two extracts from the Missouri Gazette (published in St Louis, MO) showing that
Eliezer McKee was a
