Alen Chao’s Awsome McPossum Summer Vacation

Summer. It’s the time when students don’t have to take no punk-ass craps from teachers and parent. Instead, they’ll have to take them from their summer employers. Luckily, I didn’t have to work this summer. I was fortunate enough to spend my summer going on a vacation with my family. And I’ve wrapped up my thoughts on this break into five words: Road trips with friends ONLY!!!

My tale of adventure started on Sunday night, or technically Monday morning, as we completed our last phase of Operation: Stuff Our Plymouth Voyager Full Of Needless Craps. My dad backed the car out from the driveway at exactly 3 a.m., only to return two minutes later to check on the doors. Then, we were on our merry way.

Our first stop on our Tour of Adventure was Penn State University Park in central Pennsylvania to attend the Spend A Summer Day program. We were the very first to arrive. After meeting the staff and sitting through presentation, I thought to myself, “This is it! This is the exactly school I’ve been looking to burn down!”

Afterwards, we head straight for Sterling Heights, Michigan. My aunt’s family (on my mother’s side) was kind enough to let us stay at her four-bedroom ranch house. There, I was greeted by a five feet ten, fourteen year old football player whose limited vocabulary consisted of words like, “Apple”, “Pepper”, and various simian grunts. My other cousin (age unknown) tends to eat a meal leaving grains of rice behind on the table, floor, shirt, pants, parts of his face, hands, and sometimes, hair. Don’t get me wrong, they are not retards, they just act like one.

Next stop was on to Mackinaw (pronounced Mac’-in-naw) City and Mackinaw Island. These exotic locations are located between the Northern and Southern Michigan peninsula. I loved the island: No cars, no unnecessary noises, and no factories or power plants to pollute the air. There was, however, a major typhoon at the time of our visit, making my bike ride a living hell of fun as I rode along the shoreline of the island.

Our last stop was the Harry London Chocolate Factory in Ohio. We took a tour while our camera sat in the front desk because “they don’t allow any cameras”. I don’t know why I put that in quotes.

Overall, I give this vacation :) :) :) (three smiley faces out of five. It would have been four, if it weren‘t for that crappy Chinese restaurant).
