Hello, and welcome to the genealogy webpage of the McKnight family roots. My name is Lawrence McKnight and I am the creator and researcher of this web page.  This web page contains information in reference to the descendants of Alfred McKnight.  My goal is to provide and preserve my family tree, family stories, and other family roots connected to my family. After all, the "African American History" is a very important and large piece of the "American History" that can be easily forgotten if not ventured, researched, preserved, and most importantly... read by others.

The content and information that is provided on this web page is closely accurate as possible using several legitimate resources.  These resources have come from United States Federal Census, Personal and Property Taxes, Social Security Death Index, Marriage Licenses, Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, Military Form DD-214 (Sepration Papers) and of course Primary and Secondary Sources from family members.

Please be patient as this site is
CONTINUOUSLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION. I hope you enjoy reading and learning about my family roots.

"No man can know where he is going unless he knows exactly where he has been and exactly how he arrived at his present place."
"What became of the Black people of Sumer?" the traveller asked the old man, "for ancient records show that the people of Sumer were Black. What happened to them?" "Ah," the old man sighed. "They lost their history, so they died."

I would like to thank the Doss family reunion in Dallas, TX (June 1 - 3, 2005) and the Doss/Douglas family reunion in Kansas City, MO (July 15 - 17, 2005).  Both reunions have shown me an amazing hospitality and a great example of families uniting.  I am looking forward to the Doss/Douglas/Walker family reunion in the 2nd weekend of July 2007, in TEXARKANA, ARKANSAS.
